I for one am horrified at this idea, it reeks of corporate greed and a lack of respect for the game.
Jersey sales will plummet faster than you can say 'extra revenue'. I for one will never buy an NHL jersey with a corporations logo plastered on it.
And I can see an element of sponsorship backlash creeping in here. My theory is that some hockey fans will be so angered at the sponsorship's on their jersey they will punish the company that placed the ad there by not buying their products. If you compare the customers gained from placing ads on jerseys to customers lost because of anger I don't think there is going to be much benefit to a company sponsoring a jersey
What are everybody else's thoughts?
