Hockey lost yet another legend this week; Jean Beliveau died on Tuesday at 83 years of age. Pat Quinn, Viktor Tikhonov, and now Jean Beliveau. The team on 'the other side' just got a lot stronger!

Hockey great Jean Beliveau , who won 10 Stanley Cups with the Canadiens as a player and seven more as an executive, died Tuesday at 83.

Beliveau played in 14 NHL All-Star Games, won the Hart Trophy as League MVP twice in 1956 and 1964, the Art Ross Trophy as top scorer in 1956, and the inaugural Conn Smythe Trophy as playoffs MVP in 1965.

He spent 18 seasons with the Canadiens from 1953-71, finishing as second all-time in franchise history in points with 1,219 and assists with 712. He is also third in goals with 507, and fourth in games played with 1,125 .

Late reply but had to be said:

This man was excellence on and off the ice, and had a peerless reputation among MEN. Not just hockey players, but men.

Obviously played well before my time, but that doesn't make his legend any dimmer. A hockey great, and am glad he had the opportunity to live a long life after hockey.

Rest in peace.

Don't Leaf me hanging, Buds!
