With the NHL season finally under wraps, it is my pleasure to bring back one of the best games out there - the Cyber Cup! For those of you who weren't around last year, we just make our picks each round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for who we think is going to advance in each series. Most accurate guy wins.

However, not everyone makes it past every round. We look to cut around 50 percent or so each round. For now, we'll say you need to make five correct picks to advance. Keep in mind that this is a cumulative thing, so this round is technically the most important!

And for those guys who don't make the cut, feel free to keep on going anyhow just to see how you would have stacked up. I'll stop rambling now and open the floor to you all. To enter, simply post your picks for each series (check here to see who's playing who: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=417945)

Deadline for posting / changing is before 7:00 Wednesday.

I'm going for Pittsburgh too
umteman Posted - 05/29/2009 : 08:12:59
I've done the math; everyone is out and I was the winner before I even posted my pick, but for that very reason it seemed appropriate that I pick a winner in the final even though I didn't expect anyone else to.

Did you hear about the retired proctologist? He spent 40 years saying "what's a place like this doing in a girl like you?"

I know I'm out, but just to bookend it:
Pittsburgh

Well it is finally here and it is a repeat (a good thing or a bad thing?). I have to choose between my reasoning and my heart. I can't help myself I am going with my heart: Penguins!

Ok, the problem was apparently on my end..I used the quick restore cd's to take my computer back to the day it came out of the box and I can now open topics without being logged out. So just to confirm, my picks in the conference finals:

West - Detroit

East - Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh and Chicago

Oh man! :( what a really lousy time for my computer to crash.... I apologize for not being able to get my picks in for the previous round (although I would've guessed both Eastern teams wrong). Anyways, I wish everyone who is still in good luck! I'll get you next year!

I'm going with Pittsburgh and Chicago.

umm..Ok, this is umteman. both this and the above post (guest9209)are me. My log in is working but for some reason I am logged out as soon as I click a forum or topic. Anyone know why?
Guest9209 Posted - 05/16/2009 : 03:49:01
Well this time I am picking Detroit and Pittsburgh. I am expecting a repeat of last years final but hoping for opposite results!
n/a Posted - 05/15/2009 : 22:59:02
For what it's worth then, I'll have to take risks to get into second or third place!
Carolina
Chicago

I got Detroit + Pitt

You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take Wayne Gretzky

I'll take the Pens and the Hawks.

Thrasher17 -8
Bozonator-8
pensfan17-7
Sensfan101-6
Slozo-6

Everyone moves on. Good luck to all.
For next round, you need at least 7 total points to move on. (For this round, it was 6.)

There's only three rounds left so Slozo and Sensfans have 6, so there's no way they can catch up to umteman. So is there still a point or not, like after this round even if i have 8, there's no way I can catch up if umteman if he gets it right. Do you understand me?

I don't want to eliminate anyone based on one player, because last year we had the leading guy dropout. Not that I'm expecting the same with umteman, but just because everyone else is so close, I'm not knocking anyone out just yet.

So what happens now? Who moves on? How many rounds did we need to call right? And all that.
Sensfan101 Posted - 05/02/2009 : 04:40:46
I was surprised I made it through because I was sure I only got four right so I went back to check and found out I accidently picked Chicago over Calgary I totally meant to say Calgary but Oh well

You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take Wayne Gretzky

Wow. So while both the defending champs and the runners up from last year move on (Det, Pit), your reigning Cyber Cup Champ is out after one round. After going 4 for 4 to start off, I watched San Jose choke, New York blow a 3-1 lead, and New Jersey get scored on twice in the last 80 seconds of game seven. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. In any case, here are the guys who are moving on to round two, and their points so far:

umteman - 7
Slozo - 6
Sensfan101 - 5
ThorntonisTHEMAN - 5
Thrasher17 - 5
Bozonator - 5
pensfan17 - 5

I'm assuming Eastern time.

Winning Teams

Detroit Vancouver
Boston Washington

umteman Posted - 04/28/2009 : 20:30:28
Well I did quite good; seven of eight aint bad. Darn Sharks disappointed me by bucking their tradition of losing in the second round. In round two we get to see Washington vs. Pittsburgh with the assurance of seeing either Crosby or Ovechkin in the conference final.
So here are my round two picks:

Boston vs. Carolina - Boston
Washington vs. Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh
Detroit vs. Anaheim - Detroit
Chicago vs. Vancouver - Chicago

Well I think I am ready to pick

Boston vs Carolina- Boston
Washington vs Pittsburgh- Pittsburgh

Detroit vs Anaheim- Detroit
Vancouver vs Chicago- Chicago

We are able to edit until puck drop right?

Reeder, you can not edit your picks in the middle of a round. I have your picks saved on my computer as Boston, Washington, New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Jose, Columbus, St. Louis and Chicago. Those are the ones that stand as your picks for this round.

Good eye Alex.

My computer was down for a couple days so I couldnt get in on the action. Oh well, theres always next year.
