What's the deal with Marc Savard? I know he won't be back this season, but is he improving at all? |

Maybe Mr. Ryder puts that extra effort in againist Montreal Pasty since they didn`t want him when he was there.
Toxx and guest....you are only seeing what i have been saying all along about kaberle, now that you are watching him on a nightly basis. Kaberle WILL NOT shoot the puck. Watching him play with the leafs, sitting in my lazy boy...i would have my toes drove down through the floor waiting for him to shoot the damn puck with traffic in front ot the opposing net.....but nooooo.....geeez am i glad that guy is gone off the leafs blue - line
Notice last night late in the game ( 3rd period ) when Montreal hit the goal post ? see who was standing next to the Habs player....watching him shoot and hit the post....ya, softie Kaberle.
See which defenseman wasn`t covering the front of the net when Montreal tied the game 1 - 1 ?...ya, softie kaberle.
Boston`s GM gave him a rough ride with the media for good reason, he was trying to light a fire under his a$$...GOOD LUCK.
Kaberle got away with this in Toronto because he always looked pretty good in some peoples eyes ( not mine ) playing on a terrible hockey team who never made the playoffs. Now that he is under the micro-scope on a cup contending team, the truth is finally coming out in his constant soft a$$ play. |

I think this series is the best argument for a 1 to 16 playoff format. It is a shame that these two teams can never face each other for the Stanley Cup. I can't imagine how good that would be.
Also it would eliminate some teams who might not deserve to be there. It would truly be the best 16 teams in the league. |

guest 2752, i agree with you 100 %.....not only should the top 16 teams overall get in, during the regular season each team should have to play againist each other as much as possible.
If each team would play every other team 2 times, that leaves 24 games to go through the rotation again. So each team would play at least 24 other teams 3 times per season. The remaining 5 teams ( not being played 3 times ) could be slotted in next season. All the league as to do is make up a 5 year schedule rotation and everything would work out perfect.
Any thoughts ?? |

Not a bad idea Duke but I am not a big fan of the odd number of games. Either a home and an away, or 2 home and 2 away.
Here is a thought.
Other Conference = 15 teams x 2 games = 30 games Same conference = 14 teams x 4 games = 56 games.
Crank up the regular season by 4 games, shrink the pre season by a few games. Done.
While we are at it.
Top 2 teams in each conference are automatically seeded 1-4. The remaining top 12 teams are seeded regardless of conference. |

That sounds good to me Beans, would like to see each team play all other teams at least 2 time per season. I know i get bored a bit seeing the leafs play some teams 6 times a season...wayyyyyy too much.
Regarding the creating rivalries concept with these 6 games,,,who cares ??...i know has a fan i want more variety, i really look forward to see the leafs play maybe SJ, LA, Det. etc....mostly because i never get to watch them play. |

I totally agree with your guys' ideas, i'd love to see it come to fruition but i don't think we''ll ever see it. teams are already compaining about travelling so much, all those extra flights would probably be a scheduling nightmare to boot. Unfortunately, cause i for one would like to see more variety and the potential for a montreal / toronto final... wouldn't that be something, |

I am, if not the only one, when this trade went down, was grimmacing. I don't believe in Kabby, never did, never will. It was a bad trade IMO. I thought well, he can't hurt us? Understatement of the year. I hope they don't sign him. |

I just wanted to pipe up for the people pointing out Kaberle's poor play this playoffs for the Bruins:
Just because Kaberle is playing poorly right now for this team, does not mean he is a poor player. I do remember the playoffs he took part in as a Leaf (yeah, I know, it's a long time ago), and he was pretty good to excellent at times.
Not saying he isn't playing poorly . . . he is. But that could be because he is a fish out of water in a new system, playing with new players; it could be because of diminishing skill set; it could be because he is just going through a bad stretch. It could be a combination of all those things.
Myself, I blame the coaching in Boston for their poor power play. They have the players for it, IMHO.
Looking forward to game 6, it'll be crazy in Montreal and will be a very tough win for the Bruins, so I certainly think it's going to go 7 games . . . but who knows with this series anymore?

Kaberle is simply too nice of a person ( so he seems ) for an hockey player. He just doesn`t have any aggression in him, that killer instinct.
Sure he has the skill set, some guys would kill to have some of his attributes but having them and using them are 2 totally diffrent things. I still believe his heart is in Toronto and would return there to play but he is getting older and personally as a leaf fan i would like to see the kaberle saga ended....bring in some new blood and start over...K. Bieksa or C. Ehrhoff would be lovely, then again i would be ecstatic if Burke could swing a deal for Shea Weber |

I know man, this may sound like bull... but it's true... I'm not being a cheese-dink, but I really can't change it. I don't remember my password which it asks for whenever you edit your profile ( cause i did try ). I'm on my work computer and i have this site saved so that it automatically puts the password in without showing it. I used an e-mail address when i first signed on way back when that i don't even have anymore so i can't have the password sent to me. That probably sounds like a convenient, long-winded excuse, but alas it is try. When this computer gets upgraded, i will be gone as MrBoogedy and will have to make a new profile. So to everyone reading this, i lost a bet (2 actually) and i have not owned up my end.... many apologies. |

As long as Claude Julian is coaching Boston, Ryder will be there... if he coaches somewhere else, Ryder will follow. They've worked in tandem since the beginning of Ryder's career in Hamilton. |

it actually goes furthur back to junior and apparently they ve know each other since Ryder was like 15,, a lot of people were saying Ryders dip in numbers is due to family troubles and his brother's issue 's with the law

Hate to keep beating a dead horse but....whats Bostons powerplay now with kaberle manning the point during the playoffs ??...0 for what ? 27 or something. I kept trying to tell everyone why Torontos PP was always 28th - 29th in the league, the guy won`t shoot thus throwing off the forwards timing in front of the net, theres no rythem.
Don`t worry Toxx, 4 - 1 Boston Wed. night ...sorry Pasty. |

But Magically, Kaberle had more PP assists than any other defenseman for the past 5 years and Never was out of the top 5 in any full season regarding PP points by a defensemen.
It truly is an enigma.

Boston/Montreal avatars on the line for this game? Oooohh eeeee . . . it's gonna be good!
Putting my perfect record for predictions on the line from yesterday, this is just as tough as the Pittsburgh/TB game to predict . . . real tough. But I am going to go with the goalies I like better at this moment, and that is Price over Thomas. I think Boston has played very, very tight at home - as in, holding sticks too tight - and I really don't have any gamebreakers for Boston coming up for me, going by the series. On the other hand, Cammalleri and Gionta will be there, and the way Price has played this year, he will be certain to have a decent game at the very least, I'd think.
4-1 Montreal, with the last couple of goals coming late.

Speaking of game breakers, interesting stat on TSN this morning
Frank Mahovlich is the only player in habs history with a better ppg avg than Mike Cammalleri in the playoffs, in 7 elimination games with the habs Cammy has 7 goals and 13 points, 1 word Clutch

I'm going with (surprise) Boston. 3-1, 3rd being an empty netter. Every game has been 1 goal difference, tonight will be no different. I have no faith in my 1st line so I pick Peverly to be the man. |

there is no way to call it really everything is a guess really,, like you said tox all the games could have gone either way even when Boston won 3 straight the habs were right there in all of those games,, and last night so lets face it the Bruins could have won as easily as the habs,, so for tonight i will hope and pray and if you want my prediction well flip a coin......
