Last night's game between the Canucks and Avalanche was sickening. I believe in player retribution but that was way out of line! I just about lost my dinner watching Steve Moore slide down the ice with a few hundred pounds of hockey on his back.
I think Bertuzzi will get a minimum of 10 games. Any comments?

So you saw the whole game, yeah? They were gunning for Moore from the drop (even more than the last game in Col), and it took that dirty shot to get him. Now I'm no Av's fan, but that was brutal. 10 ought to be the *minimum* and if they really want to make an example they should include regular season and the playoffs. Bertuzzi's next NHL game should be...well...2006 with the new CBA. :P |

He (Bertuzzi) got what was deserved. A clear message has finally been sent. Perhaps the NHL may just make afterall.

That was just! What Steve Moore did a few weeks ago was wrong (knocking naslund out) but what Bertuzzi did was even worse. I think he deserves what he got...but you know what...I think he feels it's fair too. I watched his press conference last night and he looked pretty genuine in his apology to Moore, Moore's family, the Canuck fans and the fans of hockey as a whole. My hat is off to him for taking it like a man!
I hope he and Moore make full recoveries (moore physically, and bertuzzi emotionally) and they both come back in the 2004-05 season and make positive contributions.
On another note...How about a penalty for hitting the head? Any hit to the head, whether it is shoulder, fist, slash, whatever. It's an automatic match penalty and a fine. Doesn't football have such an infraction??? |

I love hockey because it is the only true full contact sport left. I love the hard hits and I love the fight when they are done the way they are supposed to be done, by the goons, the enforcers, etc. It is sad that this incident has happened. It gave me flash backs to Marty McSorley and the overhand chop. Bertuzzi deserves to be out of the league.
What I hate the most about the incident is the negativity it has extablished in the media. I have people at my job that I have never spoken to come up to me and ask me my thoughts on the hit. I watched Barry Melrose and Darren Pang have to defend the honour of hockey on TV. Sickening...
