Kyle Turris just inked a 2-year deal with Phoenix for a reported $2.8 million. ($1.2 million this season and $1.6 million next season.)
He's been holding out for two months, and earlier reports suggested that he was looking north of $3 million a season from the Coyotes.
Coyotes GM Don Maloney didn't budge, and with a December 1st deadline looming, Turris finally came to his senses signing the 2-year deal.
What exactly did he accomplish by sitting out?
With 11 goals and 14 assists last season (and the season before spent in the AHL), where did he get this inflated opinion of his value?
Even if he doesn't like playing in Phoenix, sign your deal, and make a request for a trade.
Turris is a decent young centreman, but he has some growing up to do. I'm curious on where he was getting his advice? Was this his agent's idea to sit out the last two months?

Well I am sure that he was holding out hoping that he would get offered more! Waiting till the Coyotes were doing bad, to make the gm feel obligated to sign him for what Kyle wanted instead of what Don wanted. But in all seriousness, Kyle Turris is not a 3 million dollar player, at least he hasn't showed us that. 2 full seasons in the NHL and he only has 19 goals. That is not worth that much money. He had 60+ points in the AHL in the 09-10 season. I think that he has to prove himself down there this year first before he can make an impact in the big leagues. Now I dont know if he signed a 1-way or a 2-way, I am assuming a 1-way, but so far I am not sold on him.
Crazy how he was projected to go to 1st overall, ahead of Patty Kane.. good thing the Blackhawks didn't choose him instead! |

What in the world makes him think that he deserves $3 million+???
what has he ever done to deserve that... I believe he has 48 points in 161 games in his career.... which are not great stats. He should be paid max 1.5 million. This kids just ridiculous... what the hell does he think he deserves this money for?? And to think.. he was holding out until he got his 3 million... or close enough. Can anyone say in it for the money??
BTW: Im a Flames fan (i know they're terrible so hold your criticism), and i heard that the Flames were making a serious run at Turris... and I have an inside source that says they still are. Honestly... I wouldnt want this kid on my team after showing me what kinda person he's like by doing this. I actually saw Turris one night at the saddledome... I came up from my section into the concourse mid period to go to the bathroom and i saw Turris standing there in a suit talking to someone. There were no people around asking for autographs.... (because he has made absolutely no mark on the NHL and the Coyotes.... needless to say that this is why he was scratched) |

I'd take turris on my team he's got great talent probably just doesn't wanna be stuck in a bad situation in Arizona ... What would have happened if he didn't sign ?? Would he have become an ufa by seasons end? |

Yeah, I have heard the same thing - before the week is done, Turris will be somewhere else.
Actually, he makes sense in Calgary - what have they got to lose?
