Did you guys see / hear about this? This looks extremely suspect!!! For those who didn't hear about it, the Kings were scrambling for the winning goal, when inexplicably, the time clock stalled for approx 1 second with 1.8 seconds left. When LA scored with .4 left, the game should have been over!!! How in the world the NHL didn't see this when they reviewed the goal i don't know? I am assuming the goal was reviewed to see if it was in before the clock read 0?

Here's another clip that shows the clock whilst syncing it with another.

Bad management of this situation by NHL officials during this game, no doubt. This certainly should have been ruled no goal by the reviewing officials.

Hearing about it on the radio, it's almost as if everyone just wanted to hit the sack and go home . . . it was the last game of the night, and it seems like the review was certainly rushed and shoddy.

In terms of significance to the standings, LA is fighting for a playoff spot, so it's POTENTIALLY a point less they could have had from this game, if Columbus won in OT or the shootout.

But not much to do about it now, so I think the NHL will do its best here . . . thank goodness it wasn't a hotly contested game between two teams fighting for the playoffs, otherwise it'd be even worse!

True Slozo, until LA sneaks into the playoffs by 1 point over another team, or they clinch a better seed and possibly home ice by a point over someone.

I just don't understand how this can actually happen and just be swept under the rug!

unfortunately, the NHL rules are crystal clear regarding altering the outcome of a game once final - it is not allowed. Once the game was declared over and the goal allowed, there is no recourse for anyone for that particular game.

I would hope though, that if there was proof of wrongdoing on the part of the timekeeper, that the NHL would consider some other sanction against the Kings - a hefty fine, draft pick penalties, cap penalty.

Alex - the NHL admitted that they screwed up, and if they could go back in time would definitely not have allowed the goal. I can only imagine that in the future the time clock will be monitored for several seconds before the goal for this reason.

nuxfan, i can appreciate that their rules forbid them from making changes now, i just can't fathom how this mistake was made in the first place??? It boggles my mind how no one noticed the clocks stall. I could maybe see if it was at 9.8 seconds, but not at the buzzer (within 2 seconds). Crazy!

My Guess - They're probably running their rink systems under Windows 95.... they haven't been getting updates for a few years now... System could use a formatting and install from scratch. Too much internet downloading on the 56kb modem.... or ICQ lagged the clock resulting in some intern getting fired.... They're sweeping it under the rug as this is far more embarassing....
