That is some funny stuff 7116! I always liked the guy so I hope he can find his touch again. At least then maybe someone would pick him up for the last two years of his contract...probably not going to happen.

Don't hate on Gomez! Alex will try to defend and justify his big contract then call you a troll. Go Gomez go!

Don't blame Gomez, blame the administration for insisting he partakes in the line up.

Scott Gomez is a fantastic player yet injuries put him on Pierre Gauthier's bad side. Another bad move by Gauthier is coming up.

I honestly still think hes a really good player and would take him on any team. I remember I think it was last year i was watching preseason and he switched his number to 11 and I was wondering the whole game who this young guy was cuz he was flyin around out there. I was watching a hockey show this afternoon and they were saying how they wouldn't take him on there team for a playoff run and I think they are crazy. I can't remember what they worked out a cap hit for for a playoff run but it wasn't too bad as long as they send him down and bring him up on re entry waivers. This scenerio would probably benefit both sides giving Gomez a fresh start and mon only having to pay half his salary.

Here is the thing I find most interesting about this:

Does Montreal improve without Gomez???

Simply, no they do not. Gomez is a scapegoat for a team that is significantly under-performing and also does not have the talent in their roster (with or without Gomez) to do anything other than stretch to make the playoffs.

A serious overhaul is needed in Montreal but the fans will not allow it to happen. The expectations of the team are too high for the GM (regardless of who it is) to do the thing needed to gut and rebuild the team. It is at least a 2 year process that Montreal is simply not allowed to have.

I feel for Habs fans these days as the light at the end of the tunnel has fading into nearly full darkness.

Beans, the worst part is obvious, the contract! At that money, one simply MUST produce. If he were at 2 mil per, it wouldn't be quite as big a deal that he's not scoring!

But i think you're right, they need to rebuild. I've been predicting them to finish out of the playoffs for the past few years and it looks like it's finally gonna happen. They aren't just barely missing at this point though, they're no where close! Maybe this will be the kick they need to start a rebuild?

Worst part for them is having a great young goalie. I wonder if they'll go the Florida route and eventually trade him? He's young enough to play through a 2 or 3 year rebuild, so prob not.
