After only getting only 4 series winners right in round one...didn't even check the number of games I suggested it'd take...I'm guessin' I'm closer to last place than evento the middle of the pack. BUT...here goes anyway...
St Louis and LA...Blues in 6
Preds and Yotes...Nashville in 7
N.York and Washington...Rangers in 6
Philly and The Red Devils...Flyers in 5
In my pool I have only 5 guys left...all Nashville. So guess who I'm cheering for now.
[still kinda meaningless when you really don't have an actual dog in the fight]

Because it's the second round, I'll give you a bit of leeway . . . for each 20 minutes late, you lose 2 "tie break" points: once the game starts, lose2; second period start, 4; third period start, 6; end of game, 8 off (can go into minuses). By start of second game, the window closes guys.

Well that sucks that 4 of you didn't put in entries for the second round, but them's the breaks.
The game soldiers on!
That leaves: myself, Pushrod, Clatts, Guest9173, foolpittier, LeeMarshall, Alex116, Mandree888
8 guys left - which means I'll eliminate the bottom 3 or 4 this round (depends on how the cutoff goes with picks), and in the third round, another bottom two (if no ties).
That should leave 2 guys to fight it out in the final.
Good luck all remaining!

Do the scores reset every round, like you just have to make the cut or is my second round added to my 1st round totals to decide who moves on?

Only the tie-breaker carries over to each round.
So, for this second round, it will simply be the bottom two that will get cut - and even myself, who was the only person with 6 correct first round, could be in that bottom 2. I'd probably have to get one less guess correct however, as I have a decent number for my tie-break - but yeah, that's how it could go.

Anyone else who is in the NHL.com playoff challenge can vouch that picks are locked from the second that the series begins.
I actually thought I was already out though so no hard feelings if that's the case. |

Boy, I really wish I had picked LA . . . it was the one pick I struggled the most with, and now regret I didn't go with them. Certainly, the closest series to pick, and that is all because of how awesome the Kings have looked.
I am surprised Jersey didn't get a bit more love. Not surprised that not many wanted to give the unknown Phoenix squad a chance against the yhyped up Preds.

Not looking great for me, but there is hope - I am one of two people that picked New Jersey, and I also have the Rangers, so . . . I might squeeze in as not being one of the bottom two.
So, Lee Marshall and Mandree888 look like they are in big trouble right now . . .
Of note, I wrote earlier that I would only exclude the bottom 2, and that was before letting in Open Ice with his confirmed picks . . . I will just leave it as I said it would be to avoid any controversy.
Also of note . . . incredibly, not ONE of us got a correct series length and winner for the western conference this round. Who the heck knew LA was going to sweep, and that Phoenix would roll over Nashville in 5?!?

Squeaked through did i? Just realized, you had me down for 1 of 2 last week but i actually was on a mini Beans-like run of 0 fer, only to fluke out and win the Rangers pick to get a massive 1 of 4. I guess my first round tie break number must have helped squeeze me through?
Either way........

Totally "waffling" on the Pho/LA series. May just change that pick later today?

Ok,
As of the puck drop, Mandree, Clatts and the Guest lost their "tiebreaker" rights. They can still put in their picks until the beginning of the next game . . . and still have the possibility to advance - but basically, they'll have to get both games correct, since they will lose any tie-break to the contestants who put in their picks in a timely manner.
Make sense? Fair? I hope so.

Last post for the day,
The Standings for the Final will be determined by:
1) number of match-ups correct
2) 1st tie-breaker: points accrued from guessing series length
3) 2nd tie-breaker: lowest difference for guess of series goal totals
Right now we just have 4 contestants who put in their entries on time; So I might just take the top 2 for this round . . .
Open Ice - NJ, LAK
Alex - NJ, LAK
slozo - NYR, LAK
foolpittier - NJ, LAK
If the contestants remain the same, there won't be a need for any tie-break if Jersey and the Kings win. Other than that outcome however . . . it'll get dicey.
