Not a very good move by Philly as they are both UFA, but a very good move by Nashville to get the 1st round pick, wouldnt it be awesome if both Timonen and Hartnell sign back with Nashville.

That's an odd trade to me. Why would Philly give away there pick?
Timonen and Hartnell are good but the top 5 players in this draft could be 1st overall picks in other drafts. |

Seems PHI just signed both to lucrative contracts...
timo for 6 years at 6 mil a pop... and scotty for 6 years at 4 mil a pop...
Scotty is a little (read a lot) overpaid here in my books... but if he keeps improving, perhaps he's a steal in 3-4 years.

Philly is giving back the 1st rounder they got from Nashville when they traded Foppa. They are not giving up 2nd overall. |

People, it was not a trade for the players. The Flyers traded their pick for the exclusive rights to negotiate with those players. Basically giving them first crack at signing them.
And I don't think it's that bad of a move for Philly. Firstly because it gave them first crack at two of the top free agents in the pool this year. Secondly, they gave Nashville the first round draft pick that they got for the Forsberg deal before the trade deadline. So when you look at this logically, they traded Forsberg for Hartnell and Timmonen and have both players locked in for 6 years.
One of the first smart moves that Philly has made since the lock out in my opinion.
I Love your Kids, IHC is the man, and The Oilers Rule. Does that make me insane?? |
