Who do you think will make the playoffs from each conference?
Here are my choices in order of finish:
Eastern
Ottawa Philadelphia Carolina Pittsburgh New York Rangers Buffalo Montreal Toronto
Western
Detroit San Jose Colorado Minnesota Anaheim Calgary Vancouver Chicago
Go Wings Go!

Ottawa - will pull way ahead of the others Canes - The 06 champs are back Rangers - A revitalized team, spearheaded by three greats, with Henrik in net and Avery getting under guy's skin the way he has, plus all the second line efforts... Devils - When was the last time they missed the playoffs? Philadelphia - Money can by a playoff spot. As long as the money isn't suspended Montreal - A team where everyone knows their role and everyone comes out to do it Boston - Tim Thomas, Zdeno Chara, and four very solid contributors up front in Savard, Kessel, Murray and Sturm will take the team places Pittsburgh - Young guns strike again. They won't beat the Canes, should these standings actually take effect Tampa Bay - Lecavalier, St. Louis, Ranger, Richards, Prospal... the team is too good to be sitting where they currently are. Things will ge better

Whoops, I mentioned nine teams. In any case, I believe Toronto can edge both Tampa and Pittsburgh. I am naive. Or thirteen. You choose.

Wings - Defense takes it. Wild - I think this team is very good and will continue to play the way they are. Sharks - Nabokov and Thornton are winning games by themselves. Once the rest of the team wakes up, imagine the potential. Stars - The Devils of the west, for lack of better depiction Ducks - A resurgence will take place among the defending champs Canucks - With Luongo as the Hart winner in my mind, I see the Canucks squeezing in to the playoffs. Flames - Iginla won't allow his team to miss the playoffs. Kipper is playing better, and is too good to allow it. The rest of the team is passionate, and will do all they can. Good news for Alberta, they will have one representative this year Colorado - I do not see any better choice for the final spot

Now here is where it gets interesting. Hypothetically, by my matchups:
Ottawa beats Toronto Carolina beats Boston Rangers lose to Montreal Devils beat Flyers
That leaves us with seeds 1, 2, 4 and 6
Ottawa beats Montreal Carolina beats New Jersey
Believe it or not, I take Carolina over Ottawa

And, finally, the Wings beat the Canes.
Now, the disclaimer here is that if even one team does not finish the way I said, things get a lot different. Most likely, I am wrong. But taking the Canes to win the east is not a stretch. As they say, it is an entire new ballgame in the post season.
Ask the Ducks of 03, the Flames of 04 or the Oilers of 06.

East
1. Ottawa - Not much has changed 2. Carolina - Top line playing well right now 3. Philly - Refreshed and ready to become a top team again 4. Pittsburg- The kids are only getting better as time goes on 5. Montreal - How they have become more of a team since the absence of Souray and relying on him too much 6. New Jersey - Brodeur and Parise will lead the way 7. New York - Lundqvist gets better every game, proving himself as a top goalie candidate 8. Tampa Bay - Ranked 8th because of the goaltending and their horrible GAA & Save% every year, offense will give them a chance
West
1. Detroit - What dont they have? 2. San Jose - Joe wont miss the playoffs 3. Colorado - S.S.S., enough said 4. Calgary - Iginla on offense, Phaneuf on the D, Kipper in goal. Sums it up quite well 5. Minnesota - If Gabs stays healthy enough to play 40 games 6. St. Louis - Just aquired McDonald, only getting better 7. Vancouver - Ranked low solely because of injury problems this year, not looking good 8. Anaheim - Neids gets them in, if he had of played the whole year could of been ranked alot higher |

Do you really think the Pens can keep relying on their two Calder's to get them a spot in the playoffs, let alone the high one you gave them?
