Poll Question:
Approximately 30 games into the season we have seen a good sample of what to expect throughout the year. So if the season ended tomorrow who would you vote for league MVP?

Choices:

Vincent Lecavalier
Sidney Crosby
Nicklas Lidstrom
Ilya Kovalchuk
Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Henrik Lundqvist
Other (tell me who please)

I'd hope you put Ovi on there before Crosby...he has, like 50% of his teams goals

Sugar Ray over Hasek any day!

I realize there's going to be a couple that weren't listed. Yes players like Ovechkin, Nabokov, Zetterberg, Iginla and a couple of others easily could have made the list. I balanced it as best I could.

It's pretty easy to say Lecavalier. Many "fans" seem to think that most points=Best Player. However, I choose to look at this based on the definition of the Award. That is, the player judged to be the most valuable to their team. That being said, I don't think that Tampa takes a huge nose dive if Lecavalier is not there. I think he is one of the best players in the league, but I don't think he is as valuable to his team as others. Lundqvist would be a good choice, as would Iginla because I think those two players are a huge part of their teams success.

My vote, however, goes to Bobby Luongo. Take him off the Canucks and they are a bottom rung team to put it lightly. If he's out of any length of time with his rib injury, Van is in big trouble.

Using the definition of the award, I have to say that Luongo is the player who is the most valuable to his team.

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!

According to the definition I will go with Sundin...

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

I picked Vinnie because I can't see Tampa being very good at all without him. I know they have Richards and St Louis, the latter is on the small side and I don't think Richards could carry the team alone. I considered Luongo but he is a goalie and I think with any of the other star goalies in the league they would be pretty much the same as a team. I have to give an honorable mention to Sundin because without him I know the Leafs would be much worse and the award is Most Valuble To His Team!!!! Zetteberg is incredible with his important goals but he is surrounded with a fine cast of characters, same with Alfie in Ottawa. It's a crap shoot for sure and opinion based for the most part but they usually give the award to someone on a good team that racks up oodles of points. I don't think this was the intention of the award in the first place?

My pick is Hendrik Lundqvist. Where would the Rangers be without him?
