This forum may or may not have already been done, but I thought it could be interesting. Who was a player who played in the NHL from your hometown? I'm a Cape Bretoner and mine was Al MacInnis and my cousin Mike McPhee

I am from Tillsonburg, and the Hometown Hero would only be Colin Campbell...at least the only one that I know of.

I was born in Edmonton, so I have tons to pick from. However, I grew up and spent most of youth life in Redwater, Alberta. Home of Todd Fedoruk.
Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!! |

Ah Tillsonburg, my hometown nemesis. I'm from Ingersoll. We had some pretty good tilts in minor hockey with you Tillsonburg boys.
Blair Allister is from Ingersoll and was drafted by Boston in 64 but I don't believe he ever played an NHL game.

Ah Tillsonberg, My back still aches when I hear that word. I am from Hamilton and there are a few boys from here. Harry and Ron Howell, Dave Andreychuk and Murry Oliver come quickly to mind along with Pat Quinn who has a street named after him. There are a couple of others who won't come to mind at this moment. The first line, for those who do not know, is a line from a Stompin' Tom song about working in the tobacco fields around Tillsonberg. A lot of guys back in the day used to spend the summers working the tobacco fields to make money for school. It was work not for the faint of muscle, hence the song. |

I don't think there have ever been any famous hockey players from Ellicott City, Maryland.....
Well, technically my hometown would be LA because I was born there but don't live there, but no one from Los Angeles comes to mind either....a game played on ice and California just don't mix

Jamie Storr from Brampton, Ontario. He played on the Kings a while back. Can't remember if Gretz was still on the team.... |

I'm a Sherwood Park boy, like Cam Ward. Kinda had mixed feelings when he won the Smythe. No. Not really. I hate him.
The Oil WILL make the playoffs. |

Brantford, Ontario Home of Chris Gratton, Bryan Fogerty, and me.
Also I think there is some guy named Wayne Gretzky who was born there. |

OILINONTARIO - Where is Sherwood Park, we have a Sherwood Park highschool here in Hamilton. My old alma mater so many moons ago. Also, I am reminded every trip to Brantford that Gretz is from there. I have to take The Wayne Gretzky Parkway from highway 403 to get to the Brantford Casino. I think their is a Sports Park and possibly a few other things there in his name. Nice place!!!! |

Stephen Ough, who my dad played hockey with and my brother plays with his sons and nephews, was drafted in to the NHL. Unfortunatley, he suffered a bad knee injury just before he got to play. They say he was an excellent player.
Current: Randy Jones (not exactly my hometown hero, but.)
Former: Don Sweeny (lived an hour away or so.)
(A fair bit more New Brunswickers, from the older days.

Nick Schultz of the Wild is from my hometown. Jesse Schultz (who has had a cup of coffee in the NHL) is, too. Greg Hubick (another lesser-known NHLer) was from my hometown. I know all of them very well.
Just down the road a few minutes is the home of Elmer Lach and a few miles in the other direction, Eddie Shore. |

Elmer Lach is my third cousin. From the town of Nokomis. One man has a convenient store and inside he has a lot of Elmer Lach memorabilia.

Sherwood Park, Alberta is a bedroom community, just east of Edmonton. Its claim to fame is that it is the largest Hamlet in the world (around 48000, last time I checked). Others from the Park include Andrew Ference, and Tyson Nash (whose brother, Dallas, I actually played hockey with. WooHoo!). It is also a very nice place.
The Oil WILL make the playoffs. |
