to be honest, i was surprised he wasnt in it. i tried to write him in but his name wouldnt show up on the drop down list, so i just gave up... cause im lazy like that even though i want him in the game.

| Pay attention because I did call out "dude from Vancouver". I stand by my stance that it's people like you who make this whole thing a joke. Congratulations you just wasted a choice on Gonchar who hasn't played a game this year and won't anytime soon and took it away from someone who deserves it. But this is Canada and you can vote for whoever you want, that doesn't make it the correct vote though. Maybe we can do a write in campaign and get Esa Tikkanen to the all-star game. That would make as much sense as Gonchar going. |

Going to half to respectively disagree with you on this one, LeafsFan94. I am one of those in the camp that say you vote for your favourite players over who's better in a given season (ex. Crosby over Malkin for me this year), but to vote for an injured player really does cheapen the voting experience.
He hasn't played a game all year, it's quite stupid to call him a 2008 All-Star when I have as many points as he does. |

I agree Leafs Fan...the people who made the ballot are the idiots not you. How in the world are you supposed to know that one of your favorite players is injured. Those idiots from the NHL should have called you first so you could talk it over. Maybe it was the Penguins organisation who are the idiots, they should have let you know that Gonchar was injured. Don't those idiots know how much support you give them by cheering for Gonchar. Leafs Fan it's clear that you are surronded by idiots who don't know a thing about hockey or life in general. My hat is off to you just because you're managing to survive with so many idiots in your life. Come to think of it, Gonchar is an idiot too. And Leafs Fan, you are contradicting yourself so much! first you call Gonchar one of your favourite players then you say that he isn't one of your favourite players, just your favourite d-man on the list. I don't think I can reiterate this point enough lately, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION. Double even triple check the facts before you post.
I have never on any occasion asked anyone who they voted for. Are you assuming I started this topic?
Enjoy the "My Favorite Hockey Player From My Favorite Team Game", I for one would prefer to see an "All Star Game" thank you.

You can vote for whoever you want. But i would think that players that are doing the best should go to the allstar game. MSC said it perfectly when he said "Enjoy the "My Favorite Hockey Player From My Favorite Team Game", I for one would prefer to see an "All Star Game" thank you."

I don't know if I'm going to vote. I'm a hypocrite, I want some players to be voted in then I don't vote and say "My vote wont make a difference" knowing that if 10000 people have this same attitude, they too will not vote, and ten I'd be mad at the result. That being said I think I will vote. If I could have my way on all players I'd vote like this:

In case your wondering, I'm being sarcastic.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to point fingers (I'll try not too), you have the right to vote for who you want. But when you see where some of the votes are going you have to ask yourself what's the point. I mean when we vote for "all-stars" shouldn't they be, well, allstars. Don't you want to see the true skill in the NHL and just the best of the best of the talent. Or you could even vote for someone who truly deserves to be there statistically, but who isn't getting the respect due for his play (Thomas is a good example). Please vote unbiasedly, how many of you would really want to see bieksa in a foot-race with kovalchuk, probably doesn't end very well, and those two names should never even be mentionned in the same breath, especially when the subject is the all-star game. I hate Kovalchuk as a player. But I rather see him there any day than some of my favorite players. I won't vote for Brendan Morrow, I wont vote for Joe Sakic, I won't vote for mats Sundin, and I wont vote for Marian Gaborik. They dont deserve to be there, they either haven't played, haven't performed or don't have the pure talent, at least compared to someone else right now. I have to say, I actually liked the vote for Rory thing last year (or was it the year before?), but I think he was the wrong player to vote for anyways. They made a point, not every player deserving of a spot is on the ballot, but that doesn't mean anyone should be voted for just because he is your favorite, or playing on your favorite team.
So to put this all together, I will not tell you who to vote for... I will, however, tell you that you are being ignorant to everyone who want's to see the real skill in the game, and that you are in fact cheating them of possibly their favorite players that actually put up the stats to even give each other a chance to be at the all-star game. Remember, when we had no word in the voting, not that many complaints right? Maybe 1 or 2 players. Then when they leave us to it, we screw it up, and no-one's happy. Just keep that in mind when you vote, and I will try aswell, this way I wont be a hypocrite, and we all get to enjoy the gathering of talent from around the world that is the NHL All-star game.

But Id like to focus on another ridiculous pick that you made. Marc Andre Fleury who has been injured, has the same amount of Wins as Vesa Toskala, has arguably the best team in front of him and has had an average season. I would really like to hear your reasoning for picking Fleury. |

how long has he been injured? again if i knwe i wouldnt have boted for him. i just think considering, the way he played last year after he came back from the minors, he deserves a spot in the ASG.

Fleury is day to day with an undisclosed injury. He has played in 6 less games then Toskala with the same amount of wins, he has a better save% and GAA, basicaly Fleury is having a better season then Toskala, and if your just going to go on wins Theodore has the same amount of wins, again in less games the Toskala, why not him. You should look at more then just wins, but other stats as well.

I am extremely sorry to Admin, the mods and all of pickuphockey's members for this longwinded, offensive post. I truly am, but I hope it makes you (ADMIN EDIT CONTENT REMOVED) realize that you don't just post for s***s and giggles. You post for the integrity of your post, the discussion you hope it stimulates and a developed conversation between yourself and the others who respond. THAT, and only that, is a good post. If I am the only one who can stress it, I will. Good posts make the site more enjoyable, and it makes the fiscussion that much better. People like Beans, Willus, Leigh and others (Andyhack, Admin, Babs when he came on) made this site the best hockey site IN THE WORLD. Their posts, their 1000 posts, were almost always GOOD posts. One day, I would only hope to be included into that category with those names.
So my speech is done, and I have probably unknowingly broke every rule on pickuphockey regarding posts that has to do with "making good posts". Again, sorry about it Admin. If you could mind th insults, I hope you keep the post in entirety. I think it's a great example to new posters and old posters alike, and what is needed of them to contribute successfully.
