Here is my "beef": What the hell is up with all this money and the whining and stand offs!? It used to be that hockey was a "SPORT" not a business. A passion of the heart. A daily tradition for all of us Canadian boys and our US neighbours at the border.
Now you got these 30 year old cry babies turning up their nose to a contract...just because they offered him 30mill when he wanted 50mill. GIVE ME A FRIGGIN' BREAK!!!!! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS NEEDS SO MUCH MONEY!?!?!?
To ALL you greedie whinny ass pros making more in a year than the average family earns in a lifetime; WAKE UP!!!!
I would gladly take any pros place for a mere 30 - 50thou a year, and that includes NHL level too! Just enough to feed the kids, have them dressed, a place to call home and a reliable car to get around.
I'd give my left arm to be there right now, playing my ass off...JUST cause i love the game.
I agree with you there. But if you worked harder than your co-worker, produced more, and was paid half of there wage....wouldn't you want "fair market value" for your work. I think the salaries are out of control. But the owners are the ones signing the cheques. If another company would offer you twice as much money for what you do know....wouldn't you jump at it??
But I guess you have to draw the line at demanding MORE.
I can understand taking the money, but when your team suffers because of budget problems because you are demanding too much money, then you are also killing your team.
In all fairness I can't say that I'd turn the money down, but not at the expense of costing my team the cup.
