Right now I would have to suggest Kari Lehtonen is the best. Make no mistake about it, beyond the play of Marian Hossa, this guy is the reason Atlanta has started 7-1-1. His athleticism is tremendous and his reactions are quick. If he can stay healthy, and he's started every game so far so that may become an issue, my answer may not change all season.

Although I voted for Kipper (who hasn't really shown up this year...YET!) a solid case could be made for Fernandez. His stats are amazing and his team is on a roll largely due to him. I don't think it will last however.

GA - 1.60
SV% - .945
6 wins
1 shut out

Excuse me? Toskala is sure doing a hell of a lot better than Kipprusoff this year. He has 12 straight wins (dating back to last year) and look at his stats posted above... I find it absurd that at this moment, Kipprusoff has 4/10 votes. He's just another one of those bandwagon goalies that had one solid season playing for a very defensive team. Remember Theodore's amazing season (2001-02) where he won the Vezina and the Hart? Is he the best goalie today? Is he even a "good" goalie today?

Until Kipprusoff wins a championship or can consistently put up incredible numbers, he's nothing better than a good athletic goalie with a once-in-a-lifetime year.

My vote was for Turco.

My Vote is for Luongo - not a biased selection at all.

the season is young yet. I'm pretty sure the cream will rise to the top, so I voted for Hasek

Anyone who doesn't beat Phoenix 6-1 should move down to the AHL.

I just don't understand why people are so brainwashed by the media when they so dramatically exaggerate Kipprusoff's skill. He's good but come on people be realistic, he hasn't proven himself in any way and every goalie has their good year and he had his but why does his stand out?

Kipper had two solid years, but I hear what you are saying. I think that the ten shutouts last season makes him stand out a bit. His 40 wins are good but garbage goalies like Dan Cloutier can look good on a decent team. Best goalie in the league is Marty Brodeur.

Brodeur hands down. Many of these guys are off to great starts but if you had to choose one goalie to lead you in the playoffs - it would have to be Brodeur.

Tough choice between Hašek and Kiprusoff, but I went with the Dominator. Though he is getting a bit old, I have to admit.

See I didn't know if this was a historical thing or a current thing. I picked Turco because in the last few years, he has been very consistent in putting up stellar numbers and has led Dallas to becoming an elite team in the NHL. If we're speaking historically, then I would definitely choose Brodeur or Hasek.

Where is Ryan Miller on that poll?
I say Miikka cause he is Calgary's whole team but Luongo a close next pick.

I picked Turco because he's improved every year since he's started playing. Only one season has he gone below a .900 save percentage (.898) and his career number is .916 (better than Brodeur's). His career GAA is 2.08 and four out of his six years in the NHL it's been under 2. He's well on his way to winning 40+ games this year and the fact that Dallas is one of the top teams in the NHL is directly related to his success.

By the way, he did win a playoff series in 2002. So it's only one, but how many has Luongo won? Oh wait, he's never made the playoffs...

Allow me to update my Toskala stats:

17 GP: 14-3-0, 2.04 GAA (T-4th), .925 SV% (5th), 3 SO (T-6th), 1 A

Other than the fact he's only played 17 games (which is probably the only reason he only has 3 SO), I don't understand how he wouldn't be considered as one of the best goalies in the league. Only Miller and Giguere have comparable records and him and Nabokov are both top 5 in GAA and SV%. This guy is for real.

He is without a doubt in my head, the better Finnish goalie.
