I guess somebody wrote a biography of Peter Pocklington and said that there was an agreement in place in the early 80's for the Oilers and the Leafs to switch teams 100%. In addition, Pocklington would pay $50 million. Guess who bailed on this one. Harold Ballard. Apparently, when asked why the deal didn't happen, Pocklington replied, "I don't know. He was a crazy old bugger." Next in line for "Crazy Old Bugger of the Year"....how about Burkie?
The Oil WILL make the playoffs in 2010.

I don't know, that stuff is before my time, but would the NHL have approved such a massive move? With the way they are now, it is amazing that they were even close to thinking about something like that. |

the NHL would have LOVED to get Ballard out of TO. Anyway, anyhow...
It would have been a tragedy for the Oil but I am sure Ballard would have sold the team soon after cashing Pocklington's $50M cheque.
Or been shot by a justifiably Irate oil fan... |

I think Pocklington would be the one who was shot, he wouldve traded away the Oilers dynasty haha
