I would sign him but if not able to San Jose and Philadelphia are still looking for goalies.Possibly Setoguchi for Niemi.Or Picks for Niemi,Or Just let him walk.

Chicago are certainly trying to sign Antti Niemi.
He helped the team win the Stanley Cup. And, showed much promise in doing so. From early in the year, when he began battling to steal the #1 job, I could see something special in Niemi. My brother could also.
He and I had spoke about him on a few occasions early on. The guy really came from no where, and as a bit of a late bloomer. But, from the moment he began play, we knew it was going to be his job in Chicago.
Niemi shows great promise in my eyes. And, will be a stud goalie within time.
Now, back to the signing.
Chicago are hoping that he will sign with a slight discount to stay with the team that gave him his chance to play, and, whom he won a Cup with. Which is likely why negotations are still on-going.
The Blackhawks can't afford to pay a big price for Niemi. Or, for any one right now. But, they will have to. And, it will likely be at the price of another player up front. Perhaps, Hjalmarsson leaving will help with the keeping of Niemi. If, the Hawks do not match. Which, they can't afford to. Any way you slice it.
The Hawks are not going to let Niemi walk, unless he asks for an outrageous contract. Then, perhaps, they will eventually. But they will do what they can to keep him.
He has great promise I believe. This years cup aside. This guy, could develop in to a good starter for the next while.

| the one RFA that CHI will keep is Niemi, out of all of them. He is their goalie of the future. They will eat Huet's salary in one way or another to make room for this guy. I would bet that any offer sheet under 5M per yer will be matched. |

Ya you are right on in he is their future Goalie.And he will stay in Chicago.
