With the season almost over and the World Championship coming up, any players you are hoping/expecting to see on Team Canada?

Well, i'm certainly hoping the Canucks don't have any represtentation, or else that means they've been eliminated early.

It's still a little early to tell with some, but assuming the standings finished the way they are now, one has to wonder if Brad Richards would represent, or would he be better off taking some time off following his concussion he had late in the season?

I like seeing the young guys go and if asked, would like to see Tavares, E. Kane, J. Eberle, etc. Guys like that who have the youth and could use the experience! Mix in some veterans and we'll always have a competetive team.

My big question would be who is going to be our goalie??

Goalies could be:
Steve Mason
Cam Ward potentially
some may even consider Reimer

Yeah, forgot Carolina is likely to miss the playoffs. Ward with Reimer as a backup would be good. Give the kid some experience but of course, these guys have to want to go too!

Has Brodeur ever played in the WC?? If he doesn't have a Gold there he could go for it (as one of the goalies) to round out his resume.

I like Reimer, but that's a lot of credit going to someone with 30ish games of NHL experience.

Brodeur
Ward
Mason
Elliot
Mason C

could all be picked before Reimer, but you never know.

right off the hop: Tavares, Hall, Eberle, E. Kane, Spezza, Duchene, Nash, Schenn (both if they allow it), Byfugelin, Phaneuff.

and if they get bounced in the 1st round or don't make the playoffs: Stamkos, St. Louis, Staal (both), Price, B. Richards, Toews, Seabrook, Keith, Sharp, Iginla, Doan

If the Stars don't make the playoffs, i'd like to see Brad Richards play for Canada...would give me reason to watch a tournament i rarely do otherwise...but i doubt you'd see him play.

I would highly doubt that guys like Hall or Richards would be there. They are or have been injured recently and playing in that tournament has zero value.

Don't forget about guys like Horcoff, Weiss, Bourque, Duchene, Stewart, Burns.

There are tons of talented guys who won't be in the playoffs.

Does anyone care about this tournament? I may watch the finals if Canada happens to make it there. And thats a big may.

what about Craig Anderson in net.....is he Canadian?? I' don't know for sure, but he seems to be hitting top form right at the end of season.........the Americans could use him, if he is not Canadian

The World Championship is a meaningless tournament? Ask any Canadian hockey player if the chance to wear the Maple Leaf (no not the blue and white one) means little to him. It is, as well, a chance to audition for the next Olympic tournament. I would like to see Ward and Anderson between the pipes. Two veterans there, who can steal games. I do hope Spezza and Bfygulien get invites.

I heard Spezza and Nash will both be playing so that will be good for Canada. Another thing I am looking forward to seeing is if Senators prospect David Rundbland will play for Sweden. He won defenceman of the year in the Swedish elite league and was I believe fourth in scoring.

You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take Wayne Gretzky

Some pretty good talent is on board so far. Rick Nash, Jason Spezza, Matt Duchene, Chris Stewart, and Andrew Ladd up front, and Alex Pietrangelo on defense. The article on TSN also suggests John Tavares & James Reimer are likely to be added.

Iginla would be nice, but i have no idea if it's something he'd be interested in or not.

As for the Canes, well i surely hope they are available to play. I hate even thinking about it, but if the Rangers don't make the playoffs, Marc Staal & Dan Girardi would be nice additions to the blueline. They've been banged up recently though, so they might choose to rest instead. If the Dallas Stars don't make it, Jamie Benn would be nice. They have a lot of veteran Canadians as well, but not sure if they'd be interested (Richards, Riberio, Morrow, etc.)
