Chances are Chicago will get in. I'm rooting for Dallas, and while it doesn't look good, they still have a shot. If the Stars win both of their remaining games in regulation, then there are enough teams ahead of them that they could still catch that it offers them a glimmer of hope. Coupled with 2 Dallas regulation wins, all it would take would be for one of Nashville, Phoenix, Anaheim, or Chicago to go 0-2. |

The races have been great this season. Here we are on the last weekend of the regular season, and Buffalo/NYR/Carolina are still fighting for the 7th & 8th seeds in the west....and as i said there are only 4 teams in the Western Conference that have clinched a spot!! |

actually ryan, I think if CHI loses one of their 2 remaining games in regulation, and DAL wins both of theirs, DAL is in and CHI is out. They'd both be tied for points, but as I understand it DAL holds the tiebreaker.
Given that CHI plays DET twice, while DAL plays COL and MIN, this scenario is not that far fetched.
Depending on what happens this weekend, every team from 2-7 could change position in the west - and CHI or ANA could actually fall out of the picture. Must be a bugger for travel agents for 5-8 teams - where do you book flights for next week? |

Chicago might have a two-point edge, but their schedule is much tougher than Dallas'. The Hawks' final two games are against Detroit, while the Stars will square-off against Colorado and Minnesota. |

Nux...the Hawks have 37 ROW (regulation/ot wins), the Stars have 36. So if the Hawks went 1-1 and the Stars 2-0, they'd be tied at 38. I assume the next tie-breaker would be total wins?? If that's the case, the Hawks would still hold the edge (44 to 43).
Either way, the Hawks could indeed pick up a point in each game & the Stars would still have a shot. Does anyone know for sure what the 2nd tie breaker is? Is it total wins? Or does it go to something else...head-to-head matchups, goals against, etc. |

Is it the record of the series between the two? Which I don't know who would hold. |

It must be, then as Nucks said the Stars would still get in as they won the season series (Dallas won 3 of the 4 games). |
