Tough question, but game 7 in '94 has to rank up there, no? If you told me i could have them win one or the other, it's a no brainer. I'd take the cup anyday over any first round game!!! |

I think it would be hard to compare tonight to a game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals, so no, its not the biggest in Canuck history. But since then, without a doubt. |

i think it"s the bigest...the emotional commitment to this team is way higher than in 94....in 94 no one thought the canucks would get past calgary..[game 7 in that series was bigger than the final}we'd already accepted the outcome of the ranger series before game 7....this team..10-11 is expected to go far...to lose to chicago for 3rd year in a row would make thees players unwatchable next year....we'd have to watch all next season discounting every milestone ..just dreading the playoffs..there's no way if they had lost...anyone could have faith in luongo or the sedin's....they'd would have had to break up the core....not only that ....almost every cup team has had to go through a first round like that on it's way to the cup... tonight saved a city and our team from despair worse than even our history has ever seen |

I understand what you're saying sealz19, but my vote still goes to 1994. You're right in that had the Canucks lost last night, the fallout would of been much worse than when they lost to the Rangers. But it doesn't get any bigger than Game #7 of the SCF. I have a few friends who are Canucks fans, and they still talk about that series like it was yesterday. Had the Canucks lost last night, you think this series would still be fresh in their minds 17 years from now?
They were both huge...i just wish i hadn't of fell asleep during the 2nd intermission last night!! |

No question, game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 94 had to have been the biggest. I still remember that game, and I was a fan of neither team, but it was hockey gold to watch.
Maybe second biggest game I would say was second round last year, game 6. Last night would be a very close third.
No matter what the situation, I still have to put it in order of rounds achieved . . . even though there is a solid argument for last night being so much bigger because it was the Hawks, the reigning champs, the guys who put you out twice in a row already, the 8th seed versus the 1st seed, a comeback froma 3-0 defecit . . .
. . . jeesh - when I write it out like that, I might have to change it to a close second behind the cup final game 7!

94 was the biggest by result for the fans, however. for the team members the players, coaches and managers last night was the biggest. For the fans it is a big boost in confidence for their team and relief to finally put the Hawks away and move on to the next round.
The finger pointing and blame game amongst the players, coaches etc would have crippled this franchise for years to come. Having won puts this series behind them and Ryan is bang on in years ahead this won't be a big deal especially now they won the game.
So to me the answer is yes it was the biggest. |
