Being super lazy by posting here, but I'm sure Marty Turco didn't re-sign with the Blackhawks and Ray Emery had a training camp invite but I don't recall if he made the team as the back-up.
So -- who's backing up Crawford and did Turco end up signing anywhere?

Ray Emery is in fact the backup, having last played on Nov 11 and sporting a 3-0-1 record!
Last i heard Turco's name mentioned, was ironically yesterday, and it involved the possibility that the Leafs may be talking to him? This was also refuted yesterday by Brian Burke, saying "We have zero interest in Marty Turco. ...".
So, look for Toronto to sign him later today....lol. |

yup, Turco remains a UFA and has apparantly been practicing with the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL. as for the rumours that Toronto is going to sign him, I sure hope these are not accurate. and if they are then i pray Burke is smart in how he and the rest of his crew handle it. Turco has not played an NHL game since sometime last season, and had zero training camp. the fact that he's been practicing with a junior hockey club on a regular basis makes no difference. SO.....if they do sign him, then they are better off sending him to the Marlies right off the hop for a warm up stint (5 - 10 games depending on his performance). otherwise he'll probably get shelled in his first game as a Leaf and then those same people who were begging Burke to sign him would then turn around and chastise him for making such a foolish move. *sigh* such is the life in Leaf-land. |

The goaltenders in Winnipeg are well above the skill set Turco has. His win loss record and GAA while with Dallas were a product of the team system. His time with other teams since proves that. However a team looking for a backup would do well to sign him. He is like Nabakov, proven #1 until traded to a team without a great team or team system. |
