Glad to finally have him back, really looking forward to seeing him play tomorrow night! Hopefully he stays healthy & can pick up where you left off last season. If he does, the Pens are going to be tough to beat! |

No you've never heard it from the Pittsburg Penguins organization, you've been hearing it from media speculation. He's going to suit up tomorrow believe it or not, this is not a speculation from the media this is his confirmed status from the Pittsburg Penguins. |

I don't get the hockey hate-on for Crosby - I really don't. Frankly, I think it is shameful for any hockey fan to be making comments like this when referring to the best player in the NHL (at least, when he was knocked out of the game, he was).
It's sad to see that kind of short-sighted and ignorant thinking. Why do people love to watch hockey even with that attitude?
Lots of radio talk on the subject, and frankly, a lot of it is extremely cautious in outlook on Crosby's future performance and health. We'll see, but up until now, credit at least has to be given to him and his medical staff that they have never rushed him back in any way, at each step taking the most caution. Never before has such care been taken when recovering from a concussion . . . so at the very least, he's got the best shot at performing very well that we have ever seen yet for any comeback attempt like this.
It'll be a great barometer for future concussed players, to see how much better it can be when taking careful precautions and not rushing the recovery process.
Hopefully, it is a large and clear change . . . because I will be so, so sad to see another Lindros-type degredation happening here . . .

The thing about Crosby is that he was one of the biggest crybabies in the league for his first couple of years. It didn't matter what did or didn't happen, he was yapping to the refs about it in between every single whistle. It was on the level of the leafs in the playoffs, back when they actually were able to make it in... It's pretty much the same reason that I used to dislike Lemieux.
I used to like Ovechkin more than Crosby for that reason; he would go full-bore and looked like he actually enjoyed the game. Nowadays, it's almost reversed. Crosby looks like he enjoys it a bunch, whereas Ovechkin is listless and just kind of coasting.
First impressions are a tough thing to break. |

The one guest said it well. Crosby was a bit whiny for his first few season and first impressions are hard to crack. There is also a lot of love/hate that goes with being the best. Same thing happened to nearly all of the super-duper stars of the past. People hated Gretzky because he was whiny and didn't fight. People hated Lemieux because he was soft for a big man. People hated Lindros for what he did off the ice. The list goes on and on. I don't think it's an ignornant view to not like Crosby. What would be ignorant is not listing him as the best or at least one of the very best players in the game.
I believe he could have came back sooner but I think the extended length away from the game is going to be better in the long run. I am putting myself out there any saying he will be on the first page(on the TSN website) in NHL scoring by Jan 1st. I say Crosby goes fruitcake crazy and pots at a 2 PPG pace for his first 20 ish games back. |

-- All eyes are on Sid... But good thing he is used to it. Its crazy how much the expectations vary, such as "not in game shape", "won't play as well due to serious injury", "ready to tear up the league", "will get another injury soon", and "just back to his normal 100 point self"... So yeah, I think it is impossible to tell what he is going to accomplish, all I know is that a lot of hockey fans have too high of expectations because of what he did last season, and or too hurtful assumption such as another head injury. I just say we should just watch Sid, then after the new year, we can make real hockey speculations on his play. Otherwise we are just assuming with our hopes. |

Let me tell you why I think he will be lighting it up.
-He does not come across as a guy who's afraid of anything or anyone on the ice. He has never backed down from anyone and has never by shy to go to any area of the ice.
-He comes across as super competative. I think he wants to prove himself to everyone and wants to do it quickly. I think he gets excited about shutting people up, and a lot of people are talking crap and have been for a long time.
-I think he is super healthy right now. I think he was likely 'able' to come back 2-3 weeks ago at least. However, not rushing that means he should be in great shape. He has not missed a practice for any reason since training camp.
Finally, I want it to happen, so I am betting on it. The NHL is better when they have a poster boy. Not saying others can't do it, but none can do it like Crosby can. When the best player in the league is also a great role model, marketing the NHL gets that much easier. The NHL does need Crosby because there is no one else like him playing today. |

Well, well, Crosby scored the first goal of the game and half way through the second period he has 3 points already.
I'm sure glad I picked him up in the 12th round of my pool. It's hurt until now but the future looks brighter for me now. Stay healthy Sid!!!

I had hockey tonight so i missed the first 2 periods, but he sure looks good here in the 3rd! I set the PVR though so will watch the first 40 later. Can't say i'm that surprised he's having a monster game, you almost come to expect it from Sid.
Kinda surprised that he was still available in the 12th round of your pool. I go in 2 every year...he went in the 2nd round in my snake-draft type pool (only 8 teams), and the other you just pick any 20 players in the league & about half of the 20 entries took Sid. |

Took him in my pool in the first round, he was my first pick, I knew it was risky but I knew when he came back he'd go and be hungry as hell, I'm in third place without crosby, now that's he back, I'm confident I'll finish first !!
GO CROSBY ! |

12th frickin' round???? HUH? That's absolutely ridiculous! C'mon, no offense, but if you can explain to me why you wouldn't have picked him earlier, i'll listen? What is it, a 3 person draft??? Leigh, seriously, you have to explain this! They could have said he was out for the entire year and he'd have gone earlier than 12th round in my pool(s), "just in case"! Lol.
As for his nice start, Beans' prediction is looking a little conservative!! |

I read somewhere that crosby had passed 262 players for the scoring title in the one game ! out of the 600+ in the nhl.
I sure hope he stays red hot, obviously it was against a weaker team, and he wont get 4 points every night, but i am glad he is back.
He is just too exciting to watch! |

wow! four points in his first game in nearly 10 months was more than I dared hope for. will some come to regret dropping him from their fantasy team?

I got Sid in the 10th round in my pool. Nine guys. Probably wouldn't have been taken at all if I didn't. A lot of speculation that he may not come back at all, would be underperforming, would get injured again right away, etc. First round would be crazy. Maybe......

Yeah, everyone kind of forgot about him after the first couple rounds (which it was a gamble taking him first few rounds) Not that I didn't want him in the pool just forgot until you took him. I have also been saying all along we are in trouble when Crosby returns, with Malkin, Crosby, and Fleury in your arsenal, all i can hope for is a Pittsburgh choke. Or maybe some miracle that Ovechkin finds a scoring streak again.... Not likely |

That being said, although I don't have him in my pool, I am glad to see Crosby back in the NHL, and playing well, I hope he keeps it up. Love him or hate him he is one of the league's best. |

I'm still absolutely horrified that Crosby wouldn't have been taken earlier than the 10th round. Heck, someone even took him in my playoff pool last year, just in case he came back!
EVERY pool i'm in, including one's where you don't have a chance to drop a guy, he was taken before the 5th round was done!
As for your pool Shepsky, how is Sidney Crosby "forgotten", ever? One of the craziest things i've ever heard! You just don't forget the best player on the planet......ever! |

A few things that will make this sound not as crazy Alex. I was mistaken, I got him in the 9th round (not 12th). It's a small group. The pool was a late starter and only goes until early January. It's not a keeper pool. |

Tsn lists Crosby as having 9 points. (2g 7a) pickuphockey gives him 8 points (2g 6a)
who's right? and how can it be corrected on pickuphockey's part? |
