IMO it looked like the team decided to give up on their coach.

Listening to a lot of radio talk about this, and it seems that a lot of commentators have pinned this on Ovie, many on a "collection" of players (Ovechkin, Semin, Green).

I place it squarely on Boudreau myself . . . almost entirely.

When you see a pattern where almost EVERYONE is underachieving . . . much of the blame has to go to the coach who is supposed to make all those working pieces fit together properly.

Green being out of the lineup has definitely hurt the Caps, sure . . . but they also have Wideman there, Carlsson there as offensive d-men. The team is stacked with both offensive talent, and complimentary pieces; it has an ace goalie in Vokoun now as well to go along with their starter of the future; they have EVERYTHING there to be the top team in the east once again.

With Hunter who knows . . . this team could even get worse, IMHO. A rookie NHL coach coming from the OHL? Sure he's an ex-NHLer, but that means very little for a true NHL coach.

I think it'll be fun to watch the proceedings in Capland this year . . . there are sure to be more "fireworks" to come.

I have to think it was a total meltdown by the whole team. Boudreau for not being able to right the ship, the players for abandoning the coach, it's a complete mess probably the best team effort all year for this group.

I can't see Hunter as the answer but as Slozo said this will be interesting for sure.
