Reportedly, Tomas Kaberle has been dealt to the Montreal Canadiens for Spacek who now goes to Carolina.
Does this help get rid a problem for Carolina, or just create a new one? Can Montreal get Kaberle back on track and rejuvenate their power play?
Discuss!

you stole my post!!!!
I think it was time that they do something (habs) i think that kaberle on the PP will be of great help since it was struggling for the past 9 games. Kaberle is a good overall defense player who will help the young defensecore of the Habs.
As for Spacek, he was on the edge of coming back from a ribcage injury. Even if i didn't appreciate him much, he was needed with our young defense.
Wish him the best of luck in Carolina

Kaberle for Spacek....I think thats french for Blockbuster but I'm not 100%
I guess with the elusive Markov out for another month the Canadiens needed to pick up an aging "offensive defenseman". With a whopping 0 goals and 9 assists Kaberle is sure to help the anemic 28th ranked PP.
He sure helped Carolina's PP out which was way better then Montreal's coming in ranked at a note worthy 26th in the league. (A whole 1.3% better)
I'm not a fan of coaching changes but I think its time for an overhaul..and this time that means more then firing the trainer and stick boy....and while they are at it maybe tell the fans to only chant ole ole ole ole when they actually win a game not in the 2nd period lol |

Dang, I lose a man game! Oh well I think Kaberle will find his role with the Canadiens, he under-performed in Boston and Carolina and he knows he has to get his game back. I guess we'll be seeing more of him here inTO again!

the only way the habs win in this trade is if Kaberle can return to his productive ways. Not only has he been bad offensivly this season for the Canes he has been a terible defender aswell,
Spacek is not much better but his contract was at least up at the end of the season Kaberle is under contract for 3 more years if i`m not mistaken, this is where the habs have shot themselves in the foot if Kabele cannot return to form
on a plus side i think the habs are a system that Kaberle can fit into so we shall see but so far both players are not performing to their contracts value but as i said Spacek is off the books next season so , right now the canes are winning this deal

I think the Canes win the deal hands down for starters, but who knows how much game Kaberle has left? He was very mediocre to poor for most of his time in Boston, and poor to dreadful in Carolina, where he was actually sent down to the minors at one point.
The only thing I can see getting Kaberle to any kind of effective level again is him playing with Hal GIll, who he is at least quite familiar with. Other than that, it's going to be just one more mistake-prone d-man for Price to have to bail out, and maybe a few great games from him when he plays the Leafs.
Sad to say for both players, but with Spacek's career also winding down, I think this might be a bit of a nothing deal in the end. Right now, Spacek brings more to the table I'd say, but . . . it's not really all that much.

yup head on nail, and like i pointed out Spacek comes off the books at the end of the year so at least the canes will have that salary free at the end of the season, while the habs will be stuck with Kabby for 3 more years, so like i said the only way the habs can win this deal is if Kaberle starts to earn that contract, which i doubt but all i can do is hope........

The scary thing is that this offseason Montreal will only have just under $21 Million in cap space remaining! With RFA's including: Subban, Price, Eller, Emelin. and UFA's like:Hal Gill, Kostitsyn and Campoli!
They are going to be in tight for while now |
