Very happy to see Dan Girardi named to the team, very deserving. He's been one of the leagues most underrated players for a number of years now, and is leading the entire NHL in icetime this season.

I'm somewhat surprised to not see Eberle in the game. Im a little biased but still I believe hes top 10 in the league in points, and has been the Oilers best player(in my opinion)

i'd be willing to bet if/when they need a replacement for someone who gets injured or is simply unable to attend Eberle will be the player named to take that players place

Eberle is actually injured himself.

Typically, injured players are named to the All Star team and then replacements are named if they are unable to play. In this case, I believe it to be a total snub of not only no Oilers on the squad but Eberle specifically. One could argue that Khabibulin deserves to be there over Quick or Elliot, but that is debatable.

Tell me the last time a player in the top 10 in scoring was not an All Star??? Eberle is one of the great young players in the game today (regardless of the crest on his shirt) and I would take it as a personal offense if I was him.

I don't get too involved with the whole All Star game thing, so please tell me, is what i'm reading correct, that it's going to go along the same lines as last year with the two captains picking the teams?

Also, was Eberle not included on the original pick list because of injury? If not, it's a ridiculous snub after the first half he's put up! I take it they're not having a guy from every team either? Didn't they have a representative last season from every team? I think i read where NJ has no one either? Either way, if L. Couture is on the list and J. Eberle isn't, something is terribly wrong here!

Lastly, the OP has only listed 5 goalies? Who's missing?

Yes it will be done the same way as last year the two captains (Alfredsson and Chara) along with the assistants to be named later will pick the teams. Jamie Benn and Mikko Koivu are both questionable for the all star game and I think they will be replaced by James Neal and Eberle. Only five goalies were listed because Tim Thomas was voted as a starter.

You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take Wayne Gretzky

Ah, i missed the Thomas pick as a starter, thanks sensfan.

Will be interesting to see how the picks go, that to me was the most enjoyable part of the entire all star weekend last year!

Saw a funny quote from Lucic about how he "doubts Chara will pick any Canucks". Last year they were able to split up the twins, maybe they'll play together again this time around if Chara wants nothing to do with them!

Although technically I'm not sure they are still called "starters" under this new format...

I kinda liked the draft as well, entertaining if nothing else. Will be interesting as well to see when Kessel goes this time out. You have a Senator as one captain, and a ex-teammate in Chara as the other haha.

Eberle is a total snub for sure - he should be there, agreed. Would replace Koivu with him myself if going on performance . . . but as we all know, they try their very best to get a rep from all teams, so I think Eberle just has to look at it as one of those hard luck things.

Other than that, not too much to complain about though I think.

honestly i love the guy.... but what has carey price done to deserve a spot in the all star game??

kipper, ward, crawford, lehtonen, khabibulin, anderson, bryzgalov, luongo, schnieder, pavelec

all have played better than carey price... i didn't know most games started was the qualifying criteria to make this game nowadays. I sincerely hope he gets picked last and it lights a fire under his A$$. however, if i remember correctly goalies need to be chosen by a certain round.

his stats:
40gp 15 wins 17 losses 8 OTL 2.45 GAA .912 SV% 2 SO

Khabibulin over Quick or Elliot?? Are you joking? There's no logical debate there. Quick, who has a league leading 6 shutouts and Elliot who has a league leading GAA? And then just look at the teams they're on. Where is St Louis in the Central Division? Where is LA in the standings? Now look for the Oilers...you might have to scroll down to find them ;)

And you can't blame their standing on a lack of young talent with scoring potential. Food for thought: how many times has the Bulin wall been pulled this season?

The NHL actually released a statment saying that BOTH Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins would be named to the main teams had they not been injured http://www2.canada.com/topics/sports/story.html?id=5988218 If Both players were not expected to return to the line-up till after the All Star game.

CM, i too read that Eberle would have been included but RNH is actually still listed on the young guns / rookies game.

Either way, i'd still like to see a guy like Eberle named and then replaced if still injured. At least that way, there's no question as to why he wasn't picked when he obviously deserves to be!

The answer to the question of how many time Khabibulin has been pulled??

3 of the 28 games he started. That one every 9 games??? What's the point?? What's the food for thought??

The Oilers have played horrible hockey in front of Khabibulin in the last 20 games which is when 2 of those 3 times Khabibulin was pulled happend. I can tell you from watching nearly every Oiler games, Khabibulin has easily been the best Oiler on the ice most nights and without him the Oilers would most likely be dead last in the NHL today.

And you can't blame their lack of young scoring talent?? Are you mad??? Talk about illogical. The Oilers are in the bottom 3rd in the NHL in scoring, goal against, 5/5 play, and thier PK. Without their PP they would hardly score at all!!
