Hey guys, I am just a little curious as to who you think is going to be the "Phil Kessel" of this years All Star Draft!
We can all agree that it will not be Phil this year, but who gets to be the lucky winner of this coveted spot (and a free car!)
My guess is down to three players. Jaime Benn, Jason Pominville, and Logan Couture.
- Benn is the lone star (no pun intended) in the ASG and might get picked on and is just coming off surgery - Pominville is coming form the Sabres, who are not having the best luck this year - Couture is a young guy that the vets would probably love to pick on!
It will be interesting to see and i'm looking forward to finding out!

Lol, seeing as goalies have to be picked before the end of round 10 and dmen by the end of round 15, it's prob not gonna be Price.
When you think of it, even back to last year, is it fair to say Kessel was last? Well, of course it is, cuz he was, but it has to be a forward so that means it's impossible for a dman or goalie to be last!
Anyway, Puckdaddy has this article http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/last-pick-2012-nhl-star-game-fantasy-draft-140935348.html with mention of a website taking bets and offering odds. They have Hartnell going last as the favorite! |

My original thought if he were there was Ovie. Now that he's been replaced by James Neal, I'll go with him.
I'm actually curious about a couple of things other things...
After Thomas sparked some controversy and took a pass on the B's team outing at the White House, has he pissed off Chara enough that he won't take him with his first pick? Or at all for that matter?
Given the recent rivalry between Boston and Vancouver, will Chara pick any of the Sedin sisters? |

I highly doubt that Chara will pick any Canuck players. The TSN panel don't believe he will and neither do i. There is just too much bad blood and even though the game is just for fun, I don't think they would be too inclined to celebrate a goal together. |

Semin-rules - I'm of the same opinion. Draft starts soon so we'll find out soon enough.
My guess for who goes last would be one of the replacement guys or one of the "young" guys. |

I highly doubt it really. Not only is there a dislike there, can you imagine the "ribbing" Chara would get next week in the B's dressing room. Lol....
Also, keep in mind that Alfie is Swedish and so too are the twins AND Alex Edler.
What i think would be hilarious, though i doubt it would ever happen, would be for Alfie to refuse to pick a Sedin either. It would then come down to the two Sedin's left and Chara would HAVE to have one! LOL, or would they let him pass and say, no thanks!
Having said that, Alfie, knowing that Chara doesn't want them, would be wise to wait till later in the draft to pick either! That way, if Chara caves and takes one, he could always take the other!!! |

haha I would of liked to have seen that Alex! Then maybe have Chara utilize his trade & ship his Sedin to team Alfie :) |

I think it's a bigger burn that Logan Couture goes AFTER Jaime Benn who just had surgery. |

Lol Ryan, i didn't even realize at the time i posted that they were allowed a trade! It would have been hilarious, though it would really have looked bad on Chara if he did it! I mean, if he actually did that, it would prob appear to many, being that it's the ASG, that it was a little over the top but man would that not fire up the rivalry even more! Who knows, maybe Chara has something else in mind, like a massive bodycheck on one or both of the Sedins?
As far as being last pick, i still can't see it bothering any of these guys all that much? Let's face it, they're millionaires, playing the sport they love, and they've been nominated as one of the best at it??? I'd take Logan Couture's spot over the last guy cut from the Sharks before the season started, any day! |

How about if Marchand had been a choice and he ends up on a line with the Sedins? So many ironic things could happen when you get these games! |

This is an aside (and might have been better off in a new thread) but what did you think of the copious amounts of boos rained down on Lupul / anyone from the Leafs by the crowd?
On one hand - it's good to see passionate hockey fans having their "voices" heard.
On the other - it's excessive and classless to boo during what should be a "celebration" of the game.
Still, I'd venture that if they keep going with the "Draft" it' you'll see the same thing in the other "hockey" cities - Toronto fans would b00 Sens (and Habs) players, Calgary fans would boo Edmonton, Philly fans would probably boo Pens players (or just boo everyone :P) and so on and so forth.
As far as the picks went, not too many surprises for me. There's definitely no love lost between Chara and the Canucks players - he outright vetoed Edler at one point (at least it sounded like it) and Phaneuf and Iginla seemed pretty cold to each other too (I don't think they said anything to each other the whole time - bad blood from Phaneuf's time in Calgary perhaps). |

The boos were definitely excessive, at first it's kind of funny, even as a leafs fan to see passionate sens fans (funny because during actual sens games, there is usually more leafs fans in the building, some passionate fans there ottawa) although it got to the point of annoying very quickly, especially because Lupul although plays for the "hated" Maple Leafs, the point of the ASG is for the players to get together, even for just one game. So if the players can at least kind of put aside differences (though chara still wanted no canucks) maybe the fans could ease up for just one weekend to? |

I'm not a Leafs fan (it's not that I don't like the Leafs – I just don't happen to cheer for them), and I thought the boo's were excessive.
The fans can do whatever they want, but to continue to boo your opponent at an all-star game draft actually makes Ottawa fans look petty and classless.
A big BUT though – how many "fans" were actually booing? It's hard to know without being there, but it could have been the same dumbass yelling out "Leafs suck," and it may have only been a handful of fans doing the booing.
If I was Lupul, I would have told the fans to stop chanting "LOOOO-pul" though! Maybe this would have caused them to stop?!?

Yeah feed into it and they will stop .... Lupol did fine and who cares about the boo's. Chara's team was gonna get them regardless and will get more when they win on saturday and sunday |

Booing at a hockey game - go ahead!
Booing at an all-star game draft - I'm not so sure?
Booing at the NHL draft - fans can boo a pick (they did in Edmonton when they went with "speedy skater" Steve Kelly instead of local Alberta product Shane Doan), but who would boo an actual 18-year-old player?
Yeah - who cares about booing at hockey events, even an all-star draft, but I bet people would have a serious problem if hockey "fans" booed a player selection to the Hockey Hall of Fame, just because the chosen player played for an opposing team! |

I think it's safe to say this was a licensed event. Marion Gaborik proved that.
The Oil WILL make the playoffs in 2012. |
