Welcome to the first, and perhaps only, Guess Those Top 5 Guys in this year's 2012 NHL DRAAAAAAAAFT!!!

Each poster will submit their projected top 5 picks. No double entries (same guesses) will be accepted, which means if you are the first to submit Bob Mackenzie's top 5, then it's your guess so place your entry in early folks!

prizes to be announced later

Please note - you must only get the player chosen correct, not the team picking him (in case of some trade).

Slozo's Picks:

1. Yakupov
2. R. Murray
3. Dumba
4. Grigorenko
5. Galchenyuk

See? I already changed my mind, but I promise I am sticking with this one now

Great picks so far guys - literally any of these, and many more, could all be winners!!!

Semin-rules:
Oh yes, the prizes will be absolutely . . . . priceless!

I mean, sort of how respect from one's peers is priceless

It's fun to fool around with at any rate. As you can see with my picks, I am banking on both Montreal and Columbus avoiding Russians, and going with good Canadian defencemen who can be inserted into the line-up this season in all probability. And I don't see the Islanders letting Grigorenko go by them if he hasn't been picked yet, and I really hope that Burke takes Galchenyuk next at that point . . . instead of say Forsberg or hopefully not another d-man.

But it could swing a hundred different ways. Even Sensfan, who posted the most unlikely scenario IMHO (no way does Columbus take Galchenyuk over Grigs or Murray or even Forsberg, no way) . . . it could happen. It's that crazy a draft.

Gonna be watching the whole first round!

Everyone is going Yakopuv first so even though I agree, the gambler in me says I have to go against the grain to win.

1. Murray
2. Yakupov
3. Galchenyuk
4. Grigorenko
5. Forsberg

Daniel Alfredsson is the MVP of the universe. All hail the Ottawa Senators!!!!!

Interesting how many people have Grigorenko in the top five despite the fact he was taken 17th by the so called experts at TSN.

Yakupov
Murray
Galchenyuk
Reinhart
Grigorenko (though i think he could fall as far as the early 'teens, i think Burkie will be too tempted to pass on him)

Interesting.....they did go with Reinhart. So, do the Leafs go with Forsberg (@valanche) or Grigorenko (me) or elsewhere?

Leafsfans? Who do you want???

Not one person correct!

I think the consensus was Yakupov, then Murray, and that happened . . . and many had Galchenyuk third or 4th, but . . . the ig shocker was no Forsberg, and Reinhart and then Rielly picked.

No one had Rielly! Figures my Leafs would pick him, with Burke proudly stating he had him as their "#1".

bollocks.

Burke didn't really imply that he'd have taken Rielly at 1 if he were picking there did he? Please tell me he didn't.

I can only imagine the uproar in TO if he had the chance to step up to the platform and announce "with the 1st overall pick in the 2012 draft, the Leafs are proud to select Morgan Rielly". It was a surprise to many that he took him at 5 let alone 1!!!

TO mighta needed us to ship in some skilled rioters to assist what prob woulda occured!

Yeah, Burke saying that he'd take Rielly first was quite hard to swallow.

I mean, from what the pros say, if he'd played a full year, he MIGHT have pushed Murray for the top defenceman picked. Might have. But, I think Yakupov was always going to be first, he's just a bit too close to a Malkin type player, and he has great potential for something close to that level of skill.
