Poll Question:
Here is a list of referees with 20 or more years of NHL officiating experience. Which one needs to retire in your opinion, and why?

I personally voted for Kerry Fraser. He has been in the NHL since 1973, and his time has passed. I also think he has a tendency to think that his calls are as important to the game as a big goal or terrific save. His inconsistency makes games he officiates infuriating for both teams.
Mick MGeough would have been my number 1 last year, but I actually think he has been better this year (I think someone in charge must have read him the riot act).
Don Koharski is a close third because he is more often than not, awful. He blew at least three calls in the game I watched tonight alone. Very incosistent, and he makes calls that he does not see, but thinks probably happened based on a player falling down, etc. That's a HUGE no-no for an official (I was one myself for a number of years).
I'm not normally a ref-hater. Far from it (like I said, I was one). But I recognize that guys come to a point in their career where they don't see the game the way it needs to be seen at this level. Some on this list fit this description, I feel. |

I figured McGeough would be ahead early. |

I think Fraser has had his time too. He hasn't adapted to the new NHL in my opinion and he needs to hand it up. I think that Fraser should do some preseason games every year, but his regular season and playoff games have to go. |
