I just got back from my hockey game and in the third period, our goalie went down. For the second time, he was forced to leave the ice because of groin/muscle issues. It seems whenever he gets overworked, or tired his upper legs became stiff and he can't move them. He sat on the ice for nearly half an hour. Our goalie and our team need some help. Has anyone ever seen this before and/or does anyone know what to do? (p.s. He always seems to be fine the next day!?)

Ya i had a friend who had same issue and it was so bad he had to change from a goalie to a forward and eventually he just had to call it quits because he just couldnt contribute to the team.

Just a shot in the dark, but it might be cramps from Lactic Acid build up. Many "week end warrior" athletes get the condition. Stretching will work it out most of the time, if not, I would strongly suggest seeing a Doctor.
Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!! |

Thanks for replying guys,
My friend got a recipe for a drink that boosts your electrolytes, which consists of something like baking soda(i think, ill get back to you) salt, sugar, koolaid, and water. Bad thing about it is he won't drink it because of its taste I told him to drink hot Jello because somewhere i've heard people say that it helps too. |

I hope he gets better soon. Not likely to find another goalie now.
