Cheechoo in 05/06 got 56 goals and 96 points. Then in 06/07 he got 37 goals and 69 points. Then this year he has 50 gp, 14 goals and 23 points.

I've always said it on these boards...Cheechoo will never be more than a 50 point player. He'll slug out a respectable career at best, but will never be a keystone player. He is a role player, a 3rd or 4th liner.

Like many guys, they team up with a great player and have some chemistry but can not rekindle the magic the next season (for various reasons) Then the coach panics and mixes up the lines and that's the end of it. All done. At least he got a sweet contract out of it.

Last year he had a knee injury and it is still nagging him i don't think he will ever score 50 goals again

Did you remove a comment I put in this thread, could have swore I commented on it. But, it was nothing racial, etc... so not sure why it was removed.

i disagree im sorry i think cheecho can turn this around,,,, sure he is not going to be a consistent scoring 50 g's every year but i beleive strongly players can have off years,,, we're not talking about joe sakic here a consistent 100 points a year,,, cheecho will be a consistant 30 goal scorer with a 4 to 5 seasons at the 40 to 50 goal mark......

No, I didn't remove your post. I removed two guest post. One was racially driven, the other was a comment on said post.

I didn't delete your Irvine.

Regarding the topic, I agree with two thoughts:

1) One Year Wonder - That 56 goal season was a one off. I don't think he has the skills to do that again.

2) He is still a decent player - Granted, I think that he is having a very poor year and is expected to do more than what he is. However, he is a notoriously late starter into the season. He is also a player that has proven he can not create his own offence. Joe Thornton didn't start the season really hot either.

Think of this, last year(06/07), Cheechoo had 37 goals and 32 assists for 69 points. Very respectable for a player chosen in the 2nd round. Of those 37 goals, 15 came in the last 17 games. 40% of his goals last year came in only 20% of the games. You never know what will happen towards the end of the season.

Sounds to me like Cheechooo has been cheating with fuzzy math the whole time. Shame.

The Oil WILL make the playoffs.

HA HA! You got me.

It should have read 37 goals and 32 assist for 69 points.

I fixed my fuzzy math!

I've said it so many times, in so many places. Cheechoo will never, ever repeat what he did with 50+ goals, or 90+ points for that matter.

He is now with Senators, so for the sake of my team, i'd love to see him prove me wrong. The guy has some skill, but just not enough to make him an elite goal scorer. He's a 30-40 goal scorer, nothing more.
