Poll Question:
If the NHL held a no-holds-barred cage match today, who would take the title?

Choices:

G. Laraque (PHX)
D. Boogaard (MIN)
J. Shelley (CBJ)
B. McGratton (OTT)
W. Belak (TOR)
Z. Chara (BOS)
D. Brashear (WSH)

Wade Belak? Come on! Why does every poll have to have a Toronto component?
Laraque is the king of the heavyweights right now. Unfortuantely, Gary Bettman has pretty much eliminated fighting from the game, and teams can't afford to dress a guy whose knuckles drag the ice as he lumbers through the neutral zone.

It would have to be Chara. The man is a beast and during the summer he trains with his father who is a professional wrestler in Slovakia, or something along those lines.

If he can toss McCabe around like a dirty dishcloth then I'm sure he could take on anyone.

Right now I think it would be Laraque or Boogaard. Chara is definitely a monster but I think the right hit would send him packin.

5 or 6 years ago I would have given it to Brashear but he has turned soft in his old age.

Best of all-time had to be Probert. That guy was scarey.

Lets be honest. Chara is the toughest bottom line. Next in line is Laroque.

I remember last season in a Boston/Ottawa game, I believe it was Nick Boynton who speared Zdeno Chara after a whistle and Chara proceeded to break his fists on Boynton's melon. He was out for a week or two as I recall...

At the time, I thought to myself "If there's ever one guy in the NHL I wouldn't want pissed off at me, that's gotta be it."

Chara has issues no offense, but he's too crazy.

Laraque is currently the top tough guy, 10 points in 19 games is not too shabby either! Boogard is a close 2nd. I think all time the greatest enforcer would have to be either Probert or Tony Twist, now there's a psycho.

If it was no holds barred in a Cage Match I would vote for Todd Fedoruk. Knowing him personally when he was younger, he is a seriously tough SOB and does not know how to stop.
