Poll Question:
If you only had 1 vote for entry into the Hall of Fame, who do you vote for?

Choices:

Peter Forsberg for me because Sundin was on the leafs and I just think that Forsberg is better. I'm not saying Sundin is bad or anything, i'm just saying he's not as good as Forsberg of what I think.

HABS RULE!!

Peter Forsberg, without question, was the most dominate player in the past 15 years. Health kept him out of the game often, but when he played, NO ONE in the world could stop him. He impacted every single game he played. He was possibly the hardest player to knock off the puck I have ever seen.

Forsberg his highly under rated because of his health issues. If was was healthy for his entire career, he would be top 10 in scoring history.

I shall go with neither, but if I had to pick between those two I'd go with the guy with his name on the cup Forsberg. One thing that might get Sundin a few nods would be the captaincy and his length of career coupled with his generally bad teamates. Truly I'd pick Fleury over either.

I voted Forsberg. I do think that they will both make it into the hall though

Your both misinformed. Sundin will be one day in the hall, not 1st ballot but soon enough. Forsberg will be in the hall as well and if he does not get in I will be shocked, the guy dominated the game when he played and is my favourite player alltime. Clearly you have not seen him play so go check out Youtube or something. Even in today's game he could dominate if it wasn't for injuries (which occured because of his physical play).

Beans, the planets must still be alligned or something? I agree with you again! I also agree with fanoleaf that both will be in there in due time!

IMO, anyone saying neither, has very little clue about the NHL.....

I don't think there is any question Forsberg will be in the HHOF. As for Sundin, you can speculate, but I can't see him never making it there. Perhaps not ballot #1, but he'll make it. He was a solid player during his career. Not a player you watch and are amazed, but he did have a good career and was consistent. He put up fair numbers.

First off guys - should be and will be are two different things.

I am actually of the mind that neither should be in the HOF, as I truly think it should be reserved for exceptional players, not just very good ones.

I think both will probably get in the HOF, however. I really don't see either being excluded, based on who is in there already.

I would rate Forsberg first, only on the fact that he was indeed THE dominant player for a few years, and was an absolute force in the playoffs. Yes, his career was shortened by injuries, but he was MVP of the NHL one year, has an Art Ross trophy, has two Stanley Cups and was always dominant in the playoffs, and he also has two Olympic gold medals, and is one of three players, the only Swede, to be in the triple gold club twice (two cups, two Olympic golds, two WC golds).

Actually, looking up Forsberg's stats, I am even more impressed . . . he finished every season in the NHL as a plus, something I have actually never seen before for career stats.

this is crazy...I would hate to think that people on here are discriminating to players just because they're European. We are talking about two DOMINANT players to ever lace up skates.

Mats Sundin...Leafs alltime leader in a ton of categories, longest serving european born captain ever. He's won everything except a Stanley Cup, and there are plenty of players in the hall without one. I'm sorry but if you score 500 goals in the NHL you are a lock for the hall period. I mean the guys in the top 25 ALLTIME in NHL scoring and he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, geez.

Peter Forsberg...his case is a bit different but he definitely should be there as well. He's won everything at every level and was usually the best player on said team. He was absolutely the most dominant players in the world for a period of about 7 years minus some injuries. In 700 NHL games the guy had almost 900 points and was an amazing +242.

Both deserve to be there without a doubt, and should probably be first ballot.

If anyone has to think about how good Forsberg was, think about this. Part way though the 2000-2001 playoffs, he had to get his speen removed. He obviously couldn't play the rest of those playoffs, but on his doctors advise, he also took the entire following regular season off. He came back in the playoffs, after not playing competative hockey for an entire year, and lead the entire playoffs with 27 point even though his team never made it to the finals.

Sick

To think he played in some part of 13 NHL season, he only played in about 60% of the possible games. If he was even healthy 80% of the time, he would have had nearly 1200 points in less than 1000 games.

SICK! That's all I can say. The guy might be the best player in the past 15 years.

I just looked up your stats of Sundin 25 of all time. I was surprised that he ended in 25th. Begs the question why retire now. Had he played 1 more year and posted even 70 points he would have finished in 15th spot all time. I could not have said no to endorsing him if he had finished 15th. As it stands he finishes 32nd in assists and 20th in goals. This is impressive for a player who never lead the league in any stat. Goes to state how durable a player Mats Sundin was and how steady his stats were.

Again I'm torn, naturally I wouldn't vote him in but I am being swayed. Forsberg was dominant and probably the best Swedish Player ever at one point in his career, Lidstrom best Swede of all time. Its like this you cant have everyone in the Hall. You have to pick and choose or the Hall becomes a rental spot for good players. You cant rent the hall for a season or 2, you have to be the best of the best.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings unless Sakic and Fluery lost there inductions due to these guys. Lots of stellar great player's not in the Hall of fame.
