I don't think there is a leafs band wagon.
You either eat sleep breathe the leafs, or you despise them.

Finally, everyone is starting to realize that the only thing the Leafs are good for is giving Boston great draft picks!

There was once a license plate in Toronto that abbreviated "Go Leafs" it read "Golfs".

They are secretly discussing plans to kill all of the other teams coaches and 1st line players, the only flaw is they will still come in last

LOL. Just thought I'd see what the zeitgeist of leafs nation was like. What do you guys think of the Kessel trade. You think Burke will stand by the Kessel trade if Boston wins the cup and gets the 1st overall pick........and Seguin wins the Conn Smythe. The Canucks are winning the cup anyway so you guys don't have to worry about that scenario.

All i can say is this.....IMO, Beans is sitting quietly at home, planning his "report". You remember? Remember how, after a blazing start by the Leafs, Beans stuck to his guns and said "wait till 20 games in, we'll see where they are, etc, etc".
Let's face the facts, Leaf fans aren't looking forward to his comments which are forthcoming!!! ........but i am!!!

Leafs fans have nowhere to turn to...
Argos...? no
Toronto FC....? no
Jays ...? no
Raptors... ? no
Canada's city with the biggest fan-base... and no sports team to cheer for...

They can at least cheer for BURKE as one of the best "rebuilding" GM's EVER.... only thing is that he's rebuilding Boston !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The leafs biggest killer is down the middle, absolutely being destroyed at the center ice position. I honestly didn`t think they were so bad at center as they are....murdering them. This issue should have been addressed by Burke before the season started, big blunder on his part, no question about it. You have to have some size down the middle.

Yeah, we're on a bad roll here, no doubt about it.

But just like the overzealous comments at 4-0, there's no need to totally panic at a 7 or 8 game losing streak, especially when even now we are a few points out of a playoff spot. Not trying to put too positive a spin on it, but, it's a slump that won't go on forever.

This team misses Phaneuf a lot more than any of us thought, perhaps . . . and we are woefully thin down the middle. The goaltending has been ok, but hasn't stolen any games yet. Kessel is in a slump. Versteeg has been a bust so far.

But, my Leaf fans, hope springs eternal! Kadri will inject some enthusiasm and skill (more than most anyone else in the line-up!), I think Giggy will come up with a big game, and we may give a juggernaut Vancouver a run for their money at home.

I hope.

perhaps.

sigh

If the cup was won based on the huge egos in the coach and GM positions the Leafs would be a lock!!! These two remind me of the Iraqi representitive in the second gulf war when he kept threatening the Americans after it was all done.

Kadri is a good young player and should have been there all along they are not deep enough. The experience playing in the NHL is what he needs.

It's still 5 games away but the trend is not looking good. Just for a little fodder, here are some of my comments posted early September. How far off was I??

The front end is seriously gross. I liken them very much to the Oilers last season. One legitimate 1st line player, a hand full of 2nd line players, and piles of 4th line players. The Leafs were the 6th worst team in the NHL in offensive production and had the leagues worst PP. With all due respect to a player like Kris Versteeg, he simply isn't enough to change the morbid offensive output for the Buds. Nor is Colby Armstrong's 40 pts/season. Kadri, at best, it going to give around 35-40 points. The Leafs have so limited firepower up front that the TO fans are reaching into their pockets to find a little spark to talk about some players with.

I agree the defense is big and strong and scary. But there is also a little something called defense that this group (who gave up the 2nd most goals in the NHL last season and had the absolute worst PK) need to play. Defense is more than just being big and hitting people. They are going with virtually the same defense as last year and adding Lebda. Remember, the TO defense did not get better when Phaneuf came in last year. They goaltending is reasonable solid and the back end will definitely be the reason TO is in any games this season.

They just simply do not have the tools to compete with even the middle of the road teams let alone the best out there. Playoffs are a pipedream at best. If they don't finish in a lottery spot, I would consider than a successful season.

TO's competition is the bottom of the East, not the top. Frankly, I don't put the Leafs(on paper anyway) ahead of NYR at this time. Ranking them on paper, I would say TO is around 12th in the East and around 25th over in the NHL. If the Leafs finish at 12th or higher, this season would be a success.

I'll wait the 5 more games before I really start to gloat, for now I will say...

I informed you thusly. (If you get that joke, good for you!)

Beans -

I had the same conversation with some of my friends. Basically, the Leafs don't have the tools.

As far as being informed thusly, did you dress up as the Doppler effect for Halloween? (just to keep the reference going)

I`d like to remind every1 that there is 82 games in a season ...not 20. Sure 20 games can be a good indicator but an aweful lot of things can happen in those last 62 games.

better game last night against the 'Nucks, but still....a loss is a loss no matter which way you look at it. no doubt the Kessel trade didn't work out the way Burke planned, and thus has set the re-build back another 2 years.
the last thing Burke should do is panic and try to do something to fix the team to win today. the only way he can do that is to sell more prospects and picks for current talent. and even doing that won't help us win.
no, the only way to make this a winning team is to ride out the storm and keep building for the future. besides, even if Burke hadn't made the trade for Kessel we'd still be sucking today. we'd just be sucking with Seguin (or maybe even Hall) on the ice instead of him.

I would like to remind every 1 of some of the other comments made by Duke since the pre-season.

Your predicting TO to be close to the lottery...i`m predicting them to push for 1st in their division, 5th-6th in the east. Before you list 10 reasons why they won`t...wait till the end of next season and see who will eat goat. lol...have a good one ))

Heh beans, the leafs do look good as i said they would. Your lottery pick prediction will be way off this season. I predicted Toronto to fight for the division title this year, i know its a long, long way off, but time will tell.

Remember you said they definitely will be a lottery team, we shall see who will be right.

Don`t underestimate the power of a team with a real NHL goalie, great goaltending breads confidence and the leafs have this this year in J.S.Giguere.

yes i made a bold prediction about the leafs...so what ?? i like what i see on the ice and i stand behind my comments !!

Leafs are on a roll ...i am sticking to my pre-season prediction...Toronto will compete for their division title, don`t think there are so many people laughing at me now, ( i know its still early but damn this team looks good ).

Its in the second period vs Ottawa....oh my Je#(@s the leafs are gone to the F^#@in dogs...what happened to the team which played the first 6 games ???

Lottery pick u said Beans....no way, 1st pick overall for Boston !!!

After watching my leafs last night, i would dare say that if they play the exact same way tonight, Ovie. will have a chance to tie Sittler`s 6 goals in one game record.( maybe 10 points too )

I wonder how many more times the Duke will join, leave, and rejoin some of the other Leaf fans on the bandwagon???

So who won the Kessel trade? Is it worth it for a team to trade 2 first rounders for a proven 30 goal scorer when that team continues to finish in last?

It may be worth trading a very good player for two 1st round draft picks if they are about 20th or higher. It will never be worth it if they are two second overall picks.( unless you get a Gretzky, Crosby, Ovechekin type player). Im positive Burke never imagined it would be so, but it looks worse and worse all the time.

Beans you got too much time on your hands man...lol How long did it take you to put that master-peice together ?? lmao...good job though.

I get a kick out of hockey and making bold predictions, i don`t get too serious though. Spending friday night with my buds and getting drunk is my favorite activity.

What do you do besides browsing Pick-Up-Hockey ??

Seriously i can`t figure out the leafs, if they play the next 10 games the way they played Sat. vs Vancouver they can possibly win 7-8 out of ten. Who knows which team will show up next game.

That did not take as long as one would think!!

The Leafs really didn't play any better on Saturday night, they just scored some goals. Allowing 5 against is nothing to get to excited about. But scoring 3 is a huge deal considering how horrible the offense has been.

It is a very long season and there are tons of things that will happen between now and April.
