Crosby and Ovechkin have been number 1 and 2 for quite a while but I'm curius how many people will put Stamkos ahead of them.

You have to have Datsyuk in there. If he wins the Selke again this year, he'll have as many as Bob Gainey (for whom the tropy was created).

Why is richards there? I mean he's a good leader and defensive player but toews is better in all those attributes

Stop commenting on other peoples writing.
For example if someone doesn't put Crosby up there because he is not an aggressive player, or a team player that is there opinion if you disagree with them just state your top 10.

utemin.....how can you put up a list with Crosby 11th and not expect me, and others, to comment in a negative way towards your NHL intelligence? I was never a Gretzky fan growing up, but i can honestly say, he'd have been ranked #1 on any such list back then. Just because i don't like him or a particular part of his game, doesn't mean i wouldn't admit he was good.

You post crap like this (your list), and you open yourself up to abuse. Then again, the more of your posts i read, the more i'm convinced you're simply here to stir the pot.

Utemin = IHC

Joe Thornton at #1? Wow. All I have to say is wow. Is Joe in my top 10, I think so (depends on the measurement criteria)? But I don't think he is in the top 3, regardless of criteria.

I'm wondering what the criteria is for selecting your top 10, now, past (last 5 yrs) or based on expectations of the next 5 yrs?

All I can say is Marty St-Louis is extremely under rated. Not a single list so far has him.

I think any realistic person would say the top ten is split in two groups that being the elite 3 and then the remaining 7 are up for debate
123 should be Crosby stamkos ovi for every list but possibly different order
as for 4-10 I see a lot of possibilities to pick from backstrom, malkin, h sedin, getzlaf, toews, datsyuk, st. Louis, perry, Thornton, d sedin, richards (brad or mike), hossa, kane, gaborik, staal, Roy, r nash, or kopitar

Sorry Utemin, but you are kind of coming across as a little off the wall for not putting Croby in your top 10.

Why did you put Gaborik so high?

As a GM if injuries never happened this is who I would choose for my team, some not on there would be better then others. Crosby is not the type of player I think i would like as my # 1 player but I do admit that Kid has 3 buckets full of skill. Big Joe is #1 because his big body can be paired up with big shot shots or snipers like Pominville making some of the above average players into amazing players. I do relize a lot of people debate with my junky choices, none the less I stand by them. if you can make an amazing debate I could bring Crosby up but until then he sticks as the 11th player I would sign for my team.

Gaborik is up there because I am a Gaborik fan his speed and puck handling makes him almost untouchable, sadly it also leads to his injuries. (look at his yearly PPG)

Anyone without Datsyuk on their list has either forgotten about him, or they just dont know hockey very well. Sorry for the generalization, but seriously.

1. Crosby/Ovechkin
3.Datsyuk
4. Stamkos/Henrik/Daniel
7. Shane Obrien, if he were to play offense
8. Toews
9. Dustin Byfuglien playing offence against Vancouver
10.

Looks like shane o'brien and friends are commenting again. Come on, guest4412, pony up and admit you're obrien!!

If I were to pick 10 forwards based purely on this season, then no doubt I would have Stamkos as #1.

But overall, here are my ten:

1. Crosby: no wingers,no problem. I'd like to see Stamkos,Ovechkin,Thornton,Sedins, and anyone else put up the same numbers with the quality of wingers that Crosby has had.

2. Stamkos/Ovechkin - first I'd get a great playmaker before these guys. It seems Ovechkin isn't himself this season, nagging injury, or saving it for the post-season?

4. Datsyuk

5. Malkin/Zetterberg

7. Getzlaf

8.St. Louis/B. Richards

10. Sedins

This is an absolutely loaded question. Is it based on how good the player is or how much they score as the answers would be very different.

If I am building a team and I have zero salary cap issues, I take Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, Stamkos, H. Sedin, D. Sedin, Heatley, Toews, Getzlaf, and Datsuyk.

If I am drafting a pool team I take Crosby, Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom, H. Sedin, D, Sedin, Stamkos, St Louis, Getzlaf, and Malkin.
