Comments were made recently about the Canucks coasting to finish up the regular season, around the time of their recent back-to-back losses to the Oilers. Some of these comments related to how Vancouver (or their fans) should be concerned about how the Canucks are finishing up the regular season.
Meanwhile, there were very few comments made about how the Red Wings were playing. Indeed, some pundits claimed the Wings were most likely to be the team to make the Stanley Cup Finals out of the west.
Despite the Canucks back-to-back losses to the Oilers (meaningless losses in the grand scheme of things), the Canucks are 13 wins and 3 losses in their last 16 games - pretty good for a team "coasting." (BTW - they rebounded from the the two losses to the Oilers with a 5-0 win over the Wild.)
Getting back to Detroit, are they coasting? Or just playing poorly? They have only two wins in their last nine games, including an embarrassing 10-3 loss to St. Louis.
Personally, I don't put a lot of stock in how teams finish up the season. There are many examples of teams finishing strong, and being bounced in the first round. There are also many examples of teams "coasting" to finish up the regular season, who go on to do well in the playoffs.
There are no easy match ups in the West this year, but if I'm Detroit, I would rather meet Phoenix (or Nashville) in the first round, rather than Chicago or Anaheim,

Well i think what he's getting at with the last paragraph is that it might be better for the Wings if they did finish 3rd, so that they could avoid Anaheim or Chicago in the 1st round (although yes, theres still a chance either could move into the 6 slot). |

Well if the Wings aren't coasting, what do you say about the Canucks? Because many criticisms were made about the the Canucks play recently, especially their two losses to the Oilers?
And to respond to Sayhis, the Wings do not appear to care about finishing 2nd! |

DET is missing Zetterberg and Kronwall, and only got Datsyuk back tonight. I think they've been dealing with injuries more than anything, and some inconsistent play from Howard. I don't think they're coasting, they're struggling. |

I believe the question of the Canucks coasting was addressed in the original post, had you taken the time to actually read it. To reiterate, the Canucks have 13 wins and 3 losses in their past sixteen games, and followed up their Oiler losses with a 5-0 win.
Im guessing you are also the [ moderator edit ] who repeatedly makes posts about Shane O'brien as well.
Admin, are you allowed to personally attack Guests who don't read things before they post nonsense? I am also a guest after all, so it really evens out.
As before, to reiterate, you [ moderator edit ] Yes! Take the week's stresses of school, work and ex girlfriends out on the keyboard while drunk and COASTING internet forums! ADMIN DELETE THIS POST!!! WOOOOO
I suppose I would be a hypocrite to not answer the original question, so I will say that yes, Detroit is coasting a fair bit, however they have enough experience and maturity in their lineup up and down that it won't matter. They're big boys, they can straighten themselves out.
And guest, you should just [ moderator edit ]. Stop sending me double meanings of encrypted code via text message... whiskey... |

Easy there guest4019. You seriously need to deal with your anger management issues.
I wrote the original post, and made the comment about Vancouver's 13-3 record the last 16 games. And in my followup comments (which appeared to hurt your feelings) I specifically stated that many criticisms (not mine by the way) were made about the Canucks recent play.
If you read both posts carefully (or get some help), you should be able to observe that more questions were asked than statements made, and references to other people's comments were frequently made.
Not to go all philosophical on you, but you can learn a lot more sometimes by asking questions rather than spewing out opinions all the time. And that was the purpose of my original post. To get some intelligent feedback. Thanks for trying guest! :) |

NO WAY is Detroit "coasting". They're simply putting forth a "weak half hearted effort"

I think Vancouver will be fine by playoff time. With the exception of the two losses to the Oilers, the Canucks are playing well.
I wouldn't put a lot of stock on Detroit's recent record. They are an experienced team, and I'm pretty sure they will be ready by playoff time too.
(And to guest #4019, you should sleep it off!) |
