I think the 1 game was due to it being in the playoffs...I don't remember the last playoff incident I saw that garnered more than a single game suspension.
It seemed to be a pretty innocent hit honestly - although I'm surprised it wasn't a boarding penalty at the time. It looks very similar to hit that earned Burrows 5-and-a-game a few weeks ago, except with more damage to White. |

That was quite the sequence of events, thanks for the link Alex.
Definitely a suspension, and as the result shows, it isn't how hard the hit from behind is, the fact that it is a hit from behind is dangerous. No question about it, and Stoll is very fortunate to only get one game for that, IMO.
Then the fight after the next faceoff, everything that makes fighting sideshow, to me anyways, summed up in that altercation. Neither one had anything to do with the hit on White, neither one were fighting in a 'heat of the moment', type setting, and between Eager throwing an MMA elbow shot, and Clifford punching when Eager was on his way down, it was sideshow.
The only thing worse was the San Jose bench looking like a bunch of hillbillies standing around a dogfight, as it's going on!
Crazy, and kinda disturbing. Guess I better switch the tube to the food network as I'm sure some of the more poignant guest posters, and T-bar , will suggest, and how I shouldn't watch it if I don't like it, or some such drivel.
And what about the added clip of the hit on Smyth! I f that isn't leaving your feet(charging), I'm not sure what is. |

It's almost textbook boarding - definitely suspendable, one game seems about right. Brutal reffing though.
Not particularly brutal or forceful, no . . . but textbook boarding, and by the results (White left game, didn't return) you get the picture of how dangerous those hits really are.
